#WhatchaReading ? Wow, the bleak moment in The Breakup Lists was even worse than I expected, though actually worked really well with the story arc. I found it overall a good read, though too repetitious and with a bit of a deus ex machina ending; I would've like to see the main character really pursue what he wanted.

Has what seems like very good #deaf representation, is very #queer , and very geeky about high school theater. And a sweet romance.

So, this was released today. My third stamp with Canada Post. Qarlinngua (The pants). And technically my second stamp with a family member in it, as the tiny figure in it is my son Travis. Now for one with Hilary in it.

#WhatchaReading ? I haven't been posting about books much, been kind of in a meh mood. Still slowly reading Demon Copperhead, which is amazing but a LOT. Listened to Carrie Soto is Back, which was a bit of a hard sell because of the unlikable narrator but very enjoyable in the end. And just finished The Prisoner's Throne which I enjoyed but kind of forgot about as soon as I'd finished it.

How does everyone know how, when and how much they're masking?
As a late-diagnosed #AuDHD, I struggle to differentiate between "me but masking" and "me but in a diff situation".
Now that I know I'm autistic, I even miss the person I used to be in some situations before I knew.
I used to call myself a "social chameleon" - I just changed automatically to suit the circumstances.
But who actually am I and what is just a mask?

Just finished The Road to Little Dribbling by Bill Bryson and am tempted to start a new category for my records: Nonfiction.Memoir.Bitching. If you'd love 400 pages of an old man yelling at clouds, to say nothing of being casually racist, homophobic and transphobic, this is the book for you. Not sure I'll ever be able to enjoy his work again. 😞

#WhatchaReading ? I gave up on the audio of Take a Bow, Noah Mitchell, despite an excellent narrator with a delightful Australian accent. How can a "Shop Around the Corner" trope about online friends falling in love through musical theater be so desperately dull? Also all the bullying and loneliness was really painful to listen to.

Read Gay Poems for Red States, which is so powerful. What it's like to grow up in a place you both love and hate, which both loves and hates you. Finding a new place in the world while respecting the aspects of your childhood others sneer at; there are some wonderful poems about the linguistics and accents of Appalachia, and the way poor people take care of each other. I had so many feelings reading this.

I finally finished a book, thank Maude! After almost DNF'ing Wildfire because it seemed too similar to Icebreaker, I gave it another shot and wound up liking it considerably more than the first book. The characters are sweet and relatable, and the summer camp setting is cozy. Even the inevitable references to the romance genre were less annoying here, because the heroine actually learned something from her reading. 😂
