I got my Pixel tablet today and just got it set up. It's a nice piece of hardware absolutely let down by the not great state of android apps on tablets. I really like the dock tho. Honestly I'm not super concerned about the apps because I don't use tablets for much. The only reason I got this one is because the Google store offered me more money than I paid for my old base model iPad as a trade-in. I mostly just use it for D&D.
@micah the biggest thing for me is that it’s always charged, plus it makes a pretty good little media consumption screen (read: Bluey) for the kids in the afternoon. :) I do use it quite a bit for Google Meet and YouTube as well, but I just don’t really use a tablet that much in general.
Did you get the killer accidental deal for trading in the 6th-gen iPad? Katie has one collecting dust, and we just missed it; apparently they corrected the trade-in values today.
@publicvoit my understanding is it's the same camera as the 7a. But to be fair, I think these days a modern camera phone is going to be pretty similar.

Also Makro vermisse ich am 6pro schon, aber nicht für Dokumente scannen. Das geht hervorragend. Mit Abstand um 30 bis 50cm kein Problem. Ich nutze dazu die CamScanner App, die noch die Verzerrung entfernt und den Kontrast verbessert. Aber die Kamera ist da ok. @cybso
Najlepszy do zdjęć w cenie 1500pln, (+/- 300pln) to będzie pixel 7a? Następnie Samsung A54?
Chodzi o zdjęcie wyciągnij i zrób, dla osoby mało ogarniającej technologie i ustawienia. (Fajnie jak będzie długie wsparcie) Ma po prostu robić swoje.

@Skrzydlaty mamie kupiłem jakiś czas temu Pixela 7a, zdjęcia są spoko. Sam mam Pixela 4a i jak na oko fotografa zdjęcia robi dobre w dobrze oświetlonych sceneriach, także zdecydowanie #teampixel

A couple of weeks in and I have to say that I neither love nor hate the #Pixel 8. It feels well built but generic in every way, which makes it great for a work phone, but whenever I use it, it reminds me that of the things that Asus and Samsung do a little better around the edges. There are a lot of little rough edges around AOSP that Asus and Samsung both polish off nicely in their own way (and I slightly prefer Asus' approach over Samsung's in that regard).

I'm thinking about migrating my #Pixel#Android to #LineageOS because #OpenSource, but am concerned that some apps - like banking #DKB, my health insurance #Generali and maybe others - may refuse to work due to issues with Device Integrity and/or detected root.
Is there some way of analyzing my device and apps prior to installing LineageOS to see which apps would be problematic?
@norbert That's one of those remarkably limited statements on security that may be true for the mass market, but it's exactly the kind of limitation of what I get to do with my device that I want to get away from.
If I want someone else to decide that for me I can stick with Google's OS directly 🙂

Quella che andremo a presentare oggi è un’applicazione davvero molto interessante sviluppata da Guardian Project, un collettivo di persone che si dedicano alla creazione di applicazioni per proteggere la propria privacy online. ObscuraCam è un’applicazione davvero molto interessante anche se, purtroppo, non viene aggiornata da diverso tempo.
È un’applicazione molto semplice e, come abbiamo già detto, purtroppo non più aggiornata da qualche anno. Tuttavia funziona molto bene anche nelle ultimissime versioni di Android anche se è sparita la possibilità di usarla anche come applicazione per fare le fotografie, probabilmente per via cambi di API delle nuove versioni di Android 1.
Pixela i volti automaticamente
La funzione di ObscuraCam è presto detta: vi permetterà di inserire automaticamente dei pixel (o delle immagini coprenti o direttamente del nero) sui volti delle persone. Se ben ricordate abbiamo già parlato in passato di un’applicazione simile chiamata https://www.lealternative.net/2022/04/04/privacyblur/. La differenzia sostanziale è che in ObscuraCam i volti vengono riconosciuti automaticamente. Grazie a questo riconoscimento automatico è decisamente più semplice e veloce riuscire a coprire i volti delle persone prima di, eventualmente, condividere la foto.
Una volta dati i permessi all’applicazione per funzionare (richiede anche internet ma non è obbligatoria, se avete uno smartphone che permette di non dare la connessione internet potete anche togliergliela) potrete vedere le fotografie nei vostri album. Selezionate una fotografia con delle persone e vedrete che magicamente sarà comparso un pixel sul viso. Potete decidere di lasciarla così, se vi piace, e di premere subito salva per farne una copia. Se premete invece sul pixel creato potrete decidere se farlo diventare completamente nero, se pixelare tutto il resto lasciando integra la faccia oppure se mascherare il viso con qualcos’altro (maschera di Groucho, uno smile oppure maschera da luchador).

Se vi abbiamo incuriositi e se non vi interessa molto il fatto che l’applicazione è ferma da qualche anno vi lasciamo qui sotto i riferimenti per scaricarla. Il link sul Play Store non lo mettiamo perché è fermo al 2017 mentre l’ultimo aggiornamento dell’applicazione risale al 2021.
