Firm with ‘conflict of interests’ advising Scottish Government on taxpayer handouts
A company with a ‘clear’ conflict of interests was paid to advise the Scottish Government on public subsidies for tree planting and peatland restoration.
Tried playing my old Super Mario 64 hacks on the iOS versions of Delta and Rotroarch and in all cases the game softlocks after fading to white when pressing start on the title screen.
Both emulators use the Mupen64Plus core. I know my initial extended ROM specification caused problems on real hardware, but some people eventually managed to make it work by tweaking the format.
I couldn't find much info about the fix though, does anyone have at least a guess of what would cause the softlock?

I haven't confirmed yet, but I'm pretty sure the issue is misaligned decompressed MI0O segments, which only affects very old ROM hacks like mine, when running on modern more accurate N64 emulators.

If you want a low-level intermediate language for reducible CFGs, it boils down to labeled break/continue. You can either have one type of block and two types of branches (break and continue). Or you can have two types of blocks and one type of branch. Wasm chose the latter: the two types of blocks are 'block' and 'loop' where branching to a 'block' is a break and branching to a 'loop' is a continue. That seems like the superior choice if you want to prioritize streaming compilers as Wasm does.
@pkhuong Some of the minor differences here also come from trying to encode this in a linear IR. In S-expression form, (loop-forever <body>) is nice but in a linear IR you have to mark the start and end of <body> somehow. In that sense, an operational interpretation of the loop-forever's end marker in a linear encoding is that it's an unlabeled continue.
@pkhuong This also reminds me of Henry Baker's COMFY-6502 compiler that you first told me about. Some of the tricks he gets away with are a result of the S-expression encoding and wouldn't work in one pass on a linear encoding (IIRC, his "one pass" is both a forward and backward pass since he relies on a recursion with both pre-order and post-order processing).
