The latter day Crowes records are underrated, particularly THIS one.

@askDNA Yeah, unfortunately they just don't. Even if I already had the album digitally on Bandcamp, the worst that happens is I give a friend the code and introduce them to a new artist. It's a win regardless for them. smh
Just got an Argentinian #vinyl pressing of The Lion and the Cobra from Discogs, and the title of Troy is "Peso". Love that the seller included a page from a Spanish magazine, from when the album was released. #SineadOConnor - "Una Cobra Irlandesa"
@buffyleigh I love finding ephemera in s/h records and books, and sometimes put magazine articles, ticket stubs etc inside my own records; not that I ever sell them, and only rarely donate them, but I presume they’ll end up in other hands one day
@markmetz@vinylrecords I have the book as well. It’s a VERY short read. And it’s a very bare bones version of the movie. Sellers should have won that Oscar. One of the biggest robberies of all time. Hoffman in Kramer vs Kramer is in NO way comparable to what Sellers did.
Sellers didn’t even make the ceremony cuz he was so sick. He died very shortly thereafter.

There's not much to say about the best concert movie ever made. That's inarguable. (Shut up Last Waltz people; quiet down Gimme Shelter fans.)
The soundtrack (which is, of course, great) was remixed a while ago, and the missing tracks (Cities/I Zimbra) were added back...and now it's been given a deluxe, vinyl-only release.
Look, it's great...even if it should be a gatefold. Get it while you can - it's limited.
Bryan Hoffa is a library audio preservation specialist with the Library of Congress. In this video he shows us how 78rpm records are cleaned and digitized for the LOC. He also shares some interesting variables about the inconsistencies of 78s.
@markwyner@abimelechbeutelbilch One important thing about listening to 78s on a modern turntable is that you can't use the same cartridge. As Bryan mentions in the video, there was a lot less standardization back in the day (and basically all 78s are mono, which a modern stereo cartridge doesn't handle well). Due to the lack of standardization, the groove profiles can vary quite a bit between different 78s, and they are very different from modern 33rpm/45rpm stereo records.

Today’s listening is ‘First Light’, the 1978 album by Richard and Linda Thompson.
After a couple of years away from the music business living in a commune in Norfolk, Richard and Linda returned with this superb album.
Having perhaps a slightly more commercial sound than their previous albums, it’s a great listen which really highlights Linda’s wonderful voice.
In particular the track ‘Pavanne’ has to be one of her best recorded performances!
I started collecting almost 3 years ago when I kept popping into a record store @waxandbeans. Couldnt afford a decent turntable until recently though so I waited. Money was all over the place so I bought and sold but Ive got back all the ones I sold. For me its a combination of the sound quality and The local community on it....
