By the way, speaking of #Bowie I thought I'd share my recent shadow box that I made of my favourite #DavidBowie album. Admitedly hard to see the depth element in 2D. Planning an over ambitious 3 layer one of a Mr B video scene with internal lights too (way too ambitious?) . #ShadowBox#Music#AlbumCovers#Low
The 2015 EMI/Parlophone #Bowie remasters really do sound great. There are so many variations of this record (I have several including a UK first and a MOFI) but this one gets pulled out the most even though it’s from a digital source, which I would typically condemn on principle. But it sounds so good, who cares. #davidbowie#hunkydory#vinyl#records#nowspinning@vinylrecords
If you're a #Bowie fan and/or a fan of early #1970s#music & #fashion, you have GOT to watch this 1973 episode of Midnight Special (hosted by Wolfman Jack!) featuring Bowie, Marianne Faithful, The Troggs, Carmen (great band unknown to me) and others.
Phenomenal. I've never heard of this gig, never seen screenshots of it. The outfits are incredible, as is the music.
Listening to Bowie's "Space Oddity" album (1969) today, for the first time in my life. Naturally, I've heard the title track a LOT but none of the others are familiar to me.
Struck by the similarities with much of Pink Floyd’s earlier catalog.
I don't think I ever listeed to Blackstar before - came across it yesterday and it's too good, sitting in my head stopping me sleep even. Seems like a worthy swansong.
I post a lot about music, from #neoclassical and #Bowie to #doom and #BlackMetal. I also post a lot about books, mostly literary and translated fiction. I complain a lot about reading Proust.
I studied #Classics and #Latin but left academia 10 years ago. I (don't) miss it. One day I'll finish my book based on my thesis about Sulpicia, but it is not this day.
Since joining Mastodon, I've questioned what flavor of neurodivergent I am, and if it goes well with cheese.
Today's #1947League game brought to you by your Commissioner, who bypasses Jerry Garcia & company for a change to share just one of the songs from that jaw-dropping 1973 #DavidBowie hijacking of ABC's #MidnIghtSpecial program.
Bowie covering My Death is one of my absolute favorite things, but it's one of those songs I purposely don't play often, particularly outside of January/Bowienalia.
Here it's almost midnight, but you didn't think I'd let Bowie's birthday pass without saying something - hell no! We should celebrate him EVERY day. Bowie is life, Bowie is love, he left us with such a legacy.
