TheVinylApe, SUNNY DAY REAL ESTATE
Diary
2017 U.S. 2xLP Ltd. Ed. ReissueA monster album for me when I was in high school.
Being a total devotee of all things Sub Pop in the #90s , this one hit me in a way that none of the label’s other releases at the time.I remember buying it on tape, & it taking me at least a week to get past the first 3 songs, because I kept rewinding it after Song For An Angel and playing those 3 over & over.
Amazing album that still holds up.

TheVinylConstituency, This is a terrific jangle-pop record - ‘Fairweather Friend’, released in January this year by The Umbrellas on Tough Love Records. This is the Trolley Blue limited edition - 88/300 representing!
No difficult second album here - it’s fantastic, and well worth picking up! ♥️😀

killyourfm, Essential weekend listening as the weather heats up!
The first time I bought this album, I was 12 years old. I'd heard "Pour Some Sugar On Me" on the radio and almost immediately rode my bike to The Wherehouse and spent my hard-earned lawn-mowing money on the cassette. Outside of Pyromania and Hysteria, I didn't really stick with Def Leppard, but this album is absolutely timeless for me.
mforester, @killyourfm Pour Some Sugar On Me is still an awesome song. I'm too young to have listened to Def Leppard back in the day, but that song is what made me check them out. 😁
killyourfm, @mforester @killyourfm The lyric is pure cheese, but yea it’s still a damn awesome song! (My other favorites from this album are “Animal,” “Gods of War” and “Rocket.”
dnanian, Yes - 90125 (Atlantic 75 Series)
Yes imploded/exploded quite a few times over the years, and when it broke into XYZ/Asia and this Trevor Horn-led version, 90125 came out with a new, very 80s-commercial sound.
You've definitely heard "Owner of a Lonely Heart”, which was mostly a Horn composition for a solo album. Kind of last-minute add-on Jon Anderson gave it (and the album) a more "Yes" feel.
New Atlantic 75 version sounds great.
dnanian, @dpp (I tred to find it on YouTube, and while there were a bunch of parodies in a collection, I couldn’t find that one…)

Defiance, Die Kreuzen – “Die Kreuzen” (1984)
Touch And Go Records
1986 US repress, on maroon colored vinylI had the original version, but left it in the backseat of my Volkswagen bug during a heatwave in the summer of ‘86, causing it to warp significantly.
I replaced it with this repress version on dark red vinyl.
Defiance, The Angry Samoans – “Inside My Brain” (1980)
US pressing on Bad Trip Records
12", 45 RPMCertainly in my top 5 punk bands. They were a great representation of the punk ethos of their time. Angry, snotty, divisive, offensive, and raw.
Lots of infighting with the scene, best demonstrated by their diss track about Rodney Biggenheimer.
Lee Ving is alleged to have produced this album but asked not to have his name credited because of “Get Off The Air”.
I can’t tell if this is a first or second pressing from 1980, or a repressing from 1983. Pretty sure I bought this used, which is why there’s red marker writing on the cover.
Defiance, @sll Oh I'm painfully aware of the runout info on Discogs. I was warned I'd be spending a lot of time looking at these markings lol. But I'm getting better at figuring it out.
It's just that this one is a bit confusing because the difference in runout markings between '80 and '83 is super minimal and has conflicting info. Specifically, my copy has this marking exactly -B KM-5654-B₁, with the last digit being a very small # 1. But it does not have the additional stamp from the '83 runout of S-10391.

sll, @Defiance
Awww Discogs hell... I did run into the same problem with another record, small numbers / normal size numbers. At the end I decided the size didnt matter much. I reckon the guy who added the etching numbers on the 1980 version did not bother to write small 1s. But maybe I'm wrong... Good luck ;)

dnanian, Charly Bliss - Guppy
Solidly in the power-pop with grungy guitars zone.
Lead singer Eva Hendricks has a very distinctive, did-I-accidentally-play-this-at-45RPM voice that suits the songs, but can take a bit of getting used to.
But once you do, lots of fun to be had.

Practicing with multiple color registration right now, but mono is definitely good to go!
