It's a model for a wall socket cover to hide some electronics, but it could easily be a gross cubic architecture for a business building.

po3mah,
@po3mah@mastodon.social avatar

... the cover: materialized and in its natural habitat.
The wall socket box was too shallow to hold a breaker, 24V transformer and board with a relay.
Not very aesthetic, but it covers all the door unlocking junk.

AMAZING FACTS

Your homebrew filament dryer can also be used to dehydrate food if you didn’t homebrew it too much!

( xD )

(I want to make a particular kind of spinach feta bread but I have to dry a bunch of spinach first ^_^ )

@moira I've never used my filament drier for drying filament... I'm just such a loser I guess... Using it for drying food and all.

moira,
@moira@mastodon.murkworks.net avatar

@jigmedatse It's a good secondary use!

They should make devices for drying food, I'm sure there'd be a market.

Here's the 3d printed housing and battery contacts completed. Was visiting my daughter a few weeks back and knew she could get the housing printed so I quickly whipped up a design in #freecad and sent it over to her.

The battery contacts are 1mm thick brass plate that I cut and filed to the correct shape based on a cardboard template. They turned out pretty nice looking.

I thought this was about rice, and post-hulling salvage fiber or something. Being a fine powder and such...

I am not disappointed, though.

@chicob eheheh, Rice the university.

What's your go-to "Bang for your Buck" filament brand?

As I’m graduating college in a few weeks, I’ll be losing access to my university’s free printers and filament. I’m going to build up a home lab with a couple printers where I can make goofy little mechanical projects as well as some components for my cars and stuff....

Manyfold v0.66.0 has been released! This release focuses on accessibility again, particularly around keyboard control of the 3d models. But, in order to make that happen, we had to do a big rewrite of the renderer that should make it much faster and smoother! We hope you like it 😄

Feeling relatively clear today so thought I'd get a few of the wife's requested prints designed but for some reason just wouldn't start so went looking for alternatives and stumbled upon and OMG what a banging new tool, it's a very fast core clearly built around keyboard shortcuts but has a lovely context menu you bring up with space and for designing simple parts has absolutely everything I need today. I am very impressed.

Triffen,

@sp4rkr4t Thank you for mentioning it! I've tried it today too, got many things without watching any tutorials, read all the short and comprehensive documentation, and feel ready to start my own projects now. I like all the complicated stuff FreeCAD can do, but here simple stuff is really simple.

update: Release Candidate 1? I took some time today to test-print a couple of colours that arrived this week, and they seem pretty close. This is the first time I've compared a full batch against colours on a real screen - what do you think?

All 16 colours are different brands and types of PLA, so given access to the complete palette, basically every printer should be capable of making some form or other of CGA pixel art.

Imprimante: Bambulab X1C
Filaments: Prusament PETG Panacotta
Buse: 0,4 mm

I spent time painting tonight and decided to start some "remix" pieces for my Tower of Terror. (A "remix" in this context is an STL that's been modified to include new or different features.)

Even with just the rough colors blocked out, I can tell this catacomb level will look great!

saustrup, to 3DPrinting
@saustrup@mstdn.dk avatar

I left my 3D printer unattended for a couple of hours, and it completely screwed up and the extruder got completely encapsulated in a 1cm thick glob of PLA filament. This is what it looked like after half an hour of delicate unglobbing. Another half hour of cleaning and reassembling and it was working fine again. Not sure what went wrong - PETG builds are nearly always perfect, but I'm building something that should be a little more flexible, hence the PLA.

RichiH,
@RichiH@chaos.social avatar

@saustrup PETG is more flexible than PLA? If some PETG is stuck in the hot-end path and you push PLA through it can glob up heavily. Cold pulling with PETG or PC might help.
