Michael Chapman (fawfulfan) thoughts on President Biden investing in #Florida in #2024election Part 1
If Biden seriously wants to compete in Florida, he needs to understand exactly why Dems are struggling there. The main problem is Dems have collapsed in the Gulf Coast of the state. There are millions and millions of voters in Pasco, Manatee, Sarasota etc, and they are HARD red.
Obviously Dems need to rebuild in Miami too, but the Gulf is a bigger problem. Gore did worse in Miami than Biden, but only lost the Gulf by a little, so the state was tied. HRC had the best Dem Miami numbers since 1964 but it didn't matter because she got blown out in the Gulf.
In a nutshell, Florida is so tough for Dems right now because the Gulf retirement communities are where every other state's old white guys go when those states are done with them, and right now the old white guys aging into Florida are Gen X, the most conservative generation.
Republican Nick Begich announced on Thursday he would run for Congress again in #Alaska, setting up a possible rematch against incumbent Rep. Mary Peltola (D-Alaska), the state’s only statewide elected Democrat.
Sinema's reelection campaign looks especially weak — at this point it's even unclear if she will get on the ballot.
Liz Goodwin & Yvonne Wingett Sanchez: Inside Kyrsten Sinema’s reelection decision: Will ‘voters even care’ about her record?
"But in the next few weeks, Sinema must decide whether voters in her purple state care enough about her brand of politics in a polarized era to reelect her as an independent, as the window for her to gather enough signatures to land on the November ballot quickly closes."
Former Democratic congressman Mondaire Jones launched a bid Wednesday to reclaim his seat in #NewYork’s Hudson Valley, entering a competitive primary in a contest that Democrats see as one of their best pickup opportunities next year as they try to reclaim control of the #House from Republicans. #politics#2024election
More dumb bullshit from #Trump. The only people who can vote in #federalElections are American citizens. This entire line about undocumented immigrants coming into the country in droves to vote is just pure fantasy. But that's all Trump has; lies and fantasy. We cannot allow this POS back in the #WhiteHouse. We gotta vote like our lives depend on it, because they do.
A Russian, a window and a dream of not being tossed, shattered.
"Anti-war candidate Boris Nadezhdin has been barred from standing in Russia’s presidential election next month, in a move that further clears the country’s political landscape of opponents to Vladimir Putin."
Does anyone know how I can influence politics most effectively? Preferably without knocking on doors. Can I program my state representative out of office? Which language would I use for that? The primary is in August.
I don't have specific beef with my current representation, I'm just interested in politics.
Trump's team is more focused so far on building a sprawling network of "#ElectionIntegrity" #lawyers & #PollWatchers than on rounding up organizers & door knockers to reach voters.
It's a sign that 5 months before Election Day, the legal battle is underway —& that Trump PLANS to cry "rigged" if he loses, as it did after the #2020election & his #felony#convictions.

The initiative has 120,000 signatures more than needed — but that might not be enough to pass through the Florida Supreme Court.
