Really and why and is M$ innocent? No seriously, no matter which operating system and which software, you have to take care of and adjust their security and not ONLY with 'tools'. In my opinion, Linux & BSD do this more 'simply' and efficiently, because open source.

ARGH! I'm in the market for a new desktop (my W11 PC is getting old). Even though I've used #Mac, #Win, and various #Linux distros, I'm feeling pulled to get a Mac Studio.
I know, I know.
It's just that all of the well designed utilities are on the Mac. I'm NOT a fan of Apple, but Apple Devs just do a great job. I've rarely looked for a utility and found something better on W11 or Linux (they are usually worse)
I wish Linux utilities were just a bit more polished...
#Linux is like a Chinese copy of an #OS with poorly written documentation and badly fitting parts. I'm trying to load #Mozilla#Thunderbird on #Linux_Mint but the instructions are gibberish. e.g. instructions say following libraries or packages are needed:
glibc 2.17 or higher
GTK+ 3.14 or higher
libdbus-glib 0.6.0 or higher
libglib 2.42 or higher
libstdc++ 4.8.1 or higher
libxtst 1.2.3 or higher
X.Org 1.0 or higher
Why isn't there a way to check if my Mint install already has them?
@thunderbird@normplum Thanks. I'm an engineer by training and English was not my first language so I tend to think in analogies. It would be helpful to have an overview of how #Linux & #Thunderbird are similar/different from #Win/#Mac. Also, I'm very cautious about what I d/l and install on my desktop. It would be useful to know what sources can be trusted. Let me think more about this.
Wow. It appears to work without modification on Ubuntu 23.04. It looks like Mutter has implemented all the wayland protocols the wayland FFI backend expects since I last attempted this.

The Perseus molecular cloud is a giant molecular cloud located approximately 1000 light-years away in the constellation of Perseus. It comprises gas and dust weighing over 10,000 solar masses in an area of sky 6 by 2 degrees.
The gas-cloud is nearly invisible except for two clusters, IC 348 and NGC 1333, where low-mass stars are formed.
Just bought RC Astro's BlurXTerminator plugin for PixInsight.
This is a comparatively cheapo SkyWatcher 80ED with lousy "flattener" maladjusted, near the far-left middle edge of the frame, before and after running BlurXTerminator.
I had to check twice I was still comparing the same section of the frame, it's that radical an improvement.
About 4 years ago I was struggling to get 12Mbit/s ADSL. Now we have gigabit fibre and oh my word am I using it tonight.
One browser is uploading a 50GiB video to YT while another browser uploads the 20GiB equivalent to FB. The same wee macbook air is also rendering artwork for a future video thumbnail with Stable Diffusion as well. And another workstation is downloading Arch linux updates at 5-10MiB/s.
Holy guacamole! The charity shop angels must be on my side today. Picked up a Sony Bravia, same as the last one but a bigger screen for £50!!! Bless up Cancer Research! #Win
