@m2m now allows you to share a post by directly from . You just have to mention the with an email address under a post (do it privately) and it will email the indicated address with a link to the post.

Benefits ? No need to leave the app, some apps don't have sharing options, the email includes a link to invite the person to join Mastodon, not everyone has their email configured in an app that allows sharing on the device they use.

Cons ? The mail could be marked as spam.

iPhone Tip, Do you have multiple email accounts, and when you get that sound that you received a new email, you do not know from what account? You can set up a different sound for each email account, and here's how.
1, Go to settings / Mail.
2, Choose the notifications button.
3, Choose last button on the screen, customize notifications.
4, On this screen, you will find a list of the email accounts you have on your phone.
5, Double Tap on the first account name.
6, Swipe until you hear sound and the sound name. Just double tap that to bring up the list of available sounds to choose from.
7, Note. By double tapping a sound, it will play and select it as your choice. So after double tapping your choice, just hit the back button to take you back to the previous screen, and that sound will then be listed as the sound for that particular email account.
8, Just follow the same process to pick a sound for each of your email accounts.

You can do that with your by choosing “Reject” under “Disabled alias/Blocked contact” in your account settings. (1/2)

Let's talk about unrelated to today.

The prevelance of in .

is a centralized service with a history of violating the and being generally not friendly.

In terms of data security, it's messages are comparable to on the - they are always accessible to the admins of the service.

But still, moderation teams on the use the service for coordination.

csdummi,
@csdummi@babka.social avatar

I understand the reason for this - organization and coordination are difficult tasks. And the team responsible for resolving conflicts should not itself be a source of misunderstanding and conflict.

For this purpose is a very useful, but flawed tool. And alternatives (e.g. , , and ) have their own issues - some are just down to network effects, others actually lack features making them less useful for coordination.

This is why I don't recommend them here.

I go as far as an MX lookup in case their vanity address points to the server of a surveillance capitalist. It’s not perfect though b/c sometimes forwarding masks the role of google & ms. I also do not share my email address w/such users. So I rarely anymore.

Hi [name],

I certainly am a lead developer of libcurl, but I have no contractual agreement with either XXXX or YYYY so I do not think I can be qualified as a provider or a vendor to you. In this context, I'm but an individual.

We could arrange for a curl support contract to make me/us a provider.

Never in a million years did I think I’d be using a command-line email client but Himalaya is actually really nice (I did set up some fish shell abbreviations for common commands, etc.) I’m particularly enjoying being able to compose messages in my regular editor (Helix Editor).

https://github.com/soywod/himalaya

I’m sure I’ll still be using Fastmail’s web interface too but this is nice to have alongside.

(This is one for the developers/tinkerers out there.)
