After three long years of struggling with the book and analyzing it I finally put my thoughts into a coherent blogpost. I never expected the Ministry to be #solarpunk , but I hoped that it will paint a future to look forward to.
The human species ought to set some healthy boundaries with "AI" technologies. I'm curious what people think: What would you like the relationship to be between people and computers in the future? What roles / interactions should be human only, if any? What rights should people have regarding how AIs observe, model, and influence them? What responsibilities should the folks who make and use this stuff have to society?
THE BICYCLE IN 1993.
How the Wheel May Look One Hundred Years From Now.
The bicycle of 1993 will be built on very much the same lines as the safety of 1893 i. e., with two small wheels very nearly of a size. This was the plan of the first machine built in 1817, and now after a lapse of 76 years we have come back to the original design...
Then by the use of some alloy of greater tensile strength, weight for weight, than steel, and by filling the tires and the tubes in the framing with hydrogen instead of air, the weight of a road machine will be reduced to 10 pounds or less...
The roads will be prepared especially for bicycles, the grades being very slight and in fact only sufficient to provide proper drainage. The surface will be hard and smooth, the outer edge of all curves being raised as on a race track...
Railroads will be used for the transportation of freight only. Every individual will own a bicycle...
I predict that the backlash against #AI#ArtificialIntelligence will rise to the degree that, within the next 10 years, we will see products and services differentiating themselves with "#AIFree" labels. These will be similar to GMO-free or "made without child labor" declarations. These companies will state that their offerings were "made without AI." We are already seeing precursors of this in the #AIArt world. #futurism#strategy
I love this unauthorized #documentary of the #sfba#BART system, featuring beautiful golden-hour footage from a surreptitiously-attached GoPro on the front of the train, which hitched a ride from SFO to Pittsburg.
The documentary features voices from interesting people from BART’s past and present. I learned a lot about how the system came about, and how it’s run.
The ride is accompanied by the lovely, analog synth-heavy soundtrack of the game Manifold Garden, which invokes an ethereal, futuristic, Blade Runner esthetic as you glide in the first person through tunnels, bridges, and open air, always following the silver tracks ahead.
Kudos to Vincent Woo for this movie. It’s breathtaking. Watch it on your 4K TV.
In the video game Horizon Forbidden West the developers peek into the future of technological advancements. NPC Tilda van der Meer: 'She was starting to imagine the next step: An AI driven program that would not just act on its programming, but actually take responsibility for its sphere of influence.' / Aloy adds: 'To care about life, not just follow orders.' #AI#HorizonForbiddenWest#Futurism
