I could research this, but I wanna get some input from some #python devs here. I understand how decorators work (I think). They're basically normal functions that you can use to modify other functions. What is an example of a real-world usage of decorators?
The bot gets the notifications from the API and stores it in a local database. The user can implement these functions and use my decorators. The functions are then called for every notification.
So you don't need to loop. You just say what you want the bot to do with every single follow, mention, etc. So it is just so simple for less technical users. I could also make opinionated decisions and design the bot how I want it, and users don't need to worry about how the bot actually works.
This also allowed me to turn the bot into a package and allows the user to update it with #pip without needing to change their code as only the backend changes.

Two #mastodon improvements I'd love to see, as a result of issues with "banger posts":
If you hit the "40+" notification badge, it seems to break your notifs for days. Even after muting the convo and clearing Unread, it pops up with 40+ phantom notifs
Twitter absolutely had it right when they shoved multiple like/boost notifications for one tweet into a single notif
"Unless you use Threads, you will not see any ads from Threads. It is also not possible for any third party server to insert ad-like posts into your home feed, since your home feed is calculated by your own server from the people (and hashtags) that you choose to follow."
A few months in and my verdict is that #Mastodon is pretty swell.
On the other place, I found I was mostly tuning in to see what everyone was outraged about.
There’s no shortage of that here, but the overall experience is more like: “let’s see what cool shit the people I keep in my pocket are getting up to today.”

Mastodon often fails to show up-to-date context and information on posts from remote instances. Substitoot is a browser extension that fixes this.
Now also available for Chrome! Note: the current published Chrome build has a dumb bug where it doesn't start up properly, so please open the "settings" yourself to set it up! The fix is in review.
