"Mr Ross also came under pressure at the weekend when the Sunday Mail reported that his own advisers had raised concerns over 28 parliamentary travel claims which may have been combined with his work as a football linesman"

Who could have believed a could also be a corrupt, conniving conman?

ITV in depth political reporting:

"When Scotland is not playing will you support England in the Euros?"

https://www.thenational.scot/news/24366712.itv-presenter-asks-stephen-flynn-will-support-england-euros/

Laura Brannan, a senior producer for TNT Sports and co-host of the Scottish Football Show, also questioned why broadcasters were asking such a question.
"Why is this a question?" she said.
"And what's it got to do with a General Election?

Hmm. Number 4. Hmm. I wonder where the large majority of that will be coming from? Also, does 5 include the right to protest? 🤔

@JackTheCat It's going to have its head office in Scotland. Which means the board of directors will fly up from London four times a year for a two hour meeting, and the rest of the year a contract cleaning firm will keep the house-plants in the building watered.

Here is the (two dimensional) political placing of the parties in the forthcoming UK election from Political Compass....

If you thought you didn't have an awful lot of choice, the fact that all major parties are (on this assessment) siting in the blue (Right/Authoritarian) quadrant will confirm that suspicion

@ChrisMayLA6 @melanie @PoliceStateUK It really irritates and annoys me to hear London journalists refer to and the as 'centre left'. Objectively, of course, they're nothing of the sort -- but in the perversely distorted context of English politics, there is some (relative) truth to it.

But it's also really sad, from a Scottish context, so see how far right the are these days.

Delighted that I’ll be able to vote in the for an eco-socialist candidate.

I can’t vote SNP again whilst they proudly platform folk like Cherry in my old constituency. I don’t say that just as a “disgruntled” voter but as a queer Indy activist which picked up the role of an SNP branch organiser in her constituency after Alba defections.

The only choice for me in this election is the @ScottishGreens

Stopping support for the genocide in Palestine must become a mainstay of the forthcoming UK General Election.

No candidate will get my support in the election unless they unequivocably and unambiguously condemn Israel's genocide in Palestine.

The UK should immediately halt military support and arms sales to Israel. The UK government must also plainly condemn Israel's genocide on the international stage.

National service? Really?
No I'm not going to laugh. I have kids and would much rather they not get murdered for your arms companies chums and donors thank you.

Another thought, on claiming some mystical flood of seats North of the border. Say that when it happens. We remember who did a better job of handling Covid, and if you had been in charge we'd have had the same death rate with London party telling "Scottish" branch what to do.

I'm really proud of Standingstone today. A baby was born here this morning, in the yurt we erected for his parents a fortnight ago. I'm proud that we have been able to give them a place to be, relatively protected from the stresses of the world, at this important moment.

But I'm a bit ashamed for Scotland that the best place we can offer to a pair of strangers in our midst, only one of whom speaks English well, to bring a child into the world, is a tent in a field.

Two more babies will be born in the parish this summer, both of them here at Standingstone, one to parents living in a wheeled shepherd's hut, one to parents living in an old caravan. Both those couples have one member who grew up here, who went to primary and secondary school here. Both couples are in employment.

But in modern Scotland, rural people earning rural incomes can no longer afford rural .

We need to break the capitalist market in . We need a highly progressive tax on property in housing and in land. We need to prevent the use of dwelling houses as holiday homes or as short term lets. We need to allow people to live in structures they can afford, and to help them afford structures fit to live in.

None of our political parties -- with the dubious exception of @ScottishGreens -- are even trying to address the problems Scotland faces.

This wullnae dae.

Voters in Scotland remember this: for Tories and Labour England is the priority and will always come first. Scotland will only ever - ever - get what it needs or wants if it happens to coincide with what England wants. Use your vote wisely.

Just seen the LibDems out already, erecting election posters. They didn't waste time. Probably because they aren't otherwise gainfully employed.

Nice that she could walk away...
For Scottish Trans people, we take all that shit and don't get the choice to leave it behind.

Not surprised.
At a human level, we understand and don't blame her.

But fucking hell, the naivety of thinking that would help. Ceding ground to transphobes, who celebrated her downfall as a victory and justification for their methods, only generated more abuse.
Abuse directed at those who cannot walk away.
Not to mention the creep of all kinds of bigotry into Scottish parliamentary and news discourse.

By all means, let's protect our natural environment, but, we DON'T need another bureaucracy.

No more national parks.

I'm not alone, I've seen a few such banners in the locality.
