La Parilla Loca near Elmhurst Park in east Oakland reminds me of some of the best LA taco trucks. They use a charcoal grill, they have a large menu, they have vampiro and mulita, they make their own tortilla, they have a large range of good and not too sweet agua fresca, it’s in a parking lot, there’s a train rumbling overhead..
Vampiro is exceptional. Burritos are the size of a very muscly person’s forearm. Great birria

Went out to Pherm Brewing in Gambrills, MD earlier today. They had a new Mango Habanero IPA out, and I wanted to try out the Pho Wheels food truck too.
I had a few small pours, and a full pour of the Caspian (mango habanero IPA that I wish had a bit more heat) and their Forbin (American IPA).
Pho Wheels was down right fantastic. I got their Banh Mirria (Banh Mi and Birria fusion), and their tacos with a fried egg on each.
@Zarf joined me on the latter half of the visit. Great times.

Got back home to some terrific hand pankoed mahi mahi and fried up by partner. With some shredded cabbage, red onion, jalapeño, cilantro slaw and a bit of sour cream based quick sauce made for some terrific #tacos
Shout out to salsa huichol too. Not something I use too often, but I always have some on hand - for Mexican type seafood it's a great #HotSauce First had it in Chicago decades ago at a short lived but rightly buzz creating seafood taco place (Tacos del Pacifico)
Oh man I adore tacos. I felt better about moving to this part of the world (I was and still am extremely homesick for Asia) when I discovered my life’s calling to eat all the tacos I can. I will make it my life’s work to eat all the tacos in the Americas. Every style, every filling
For a new personal project I’d like everyone to tell me about your fave taco spots, and what you get there, anywhere in the San Francisco Bay Area and Monterey county (because Salinas exists, and I want tacos there). Maybe even Central Valley too! It can be a restaurant or a truck or popup.
I’m then going to eat at as many of them as I can.
