The words “the agent accidentally sent a lease renewal to the tenants” are the only reporting of the real story here. So, the tenants got a lease renewal, and by golly they thought they had a lease renewal? How is this anyone’s fault but the agent’s, and then the landlord’s for choosing to be a jerk about it?
I get that “The tenants denied ABC's request for comment”, but seriously, you therefore, with the exception of that one sentence above, ONLY attempt this from the POV of the landlord???
And, sorry, let me get the world’s smallest violin for the guy who had a $2000 expense after (a) SELLING a BLOODY HOUSE and (b) turning upside down the lives of the tenants who RECEIVED A LEASE RENEWAL.

The 1st interview was a wailing woman in headscarf calling on Allah to punish Israel, speaking alone to the camera, no interviewer.
The 2nd interview was humanised by a reporter sitting have a casual chat with cheerful soldiers dressed in tees and jeans, talking about their losses from (guess what) Oct 7, not personally but they knew somebody who knew somebody and how all Gazans are guilty.
This ABC News article speaks to young Taiwanese people about their future prospects. The article focuses on the possibility of war but also acknowledges that youth have other concerns.

Someone of global stature needs to stand up and say that House Republicans under direction from Trump are trying to hand Ukraine to Putin who will help Trump get a 2nd term so Trump can break NATO.

Yes, we need to ditch the stage three tax cuts but we also need to fix the disastrous Howard and Costello negative gearing and capital gains tax concessions.
Until we have the political will to tax wealth properly, we are going to keep having a housing crisis.

Another one of ABC's “It your fault as the Consumer” articles. The takeaway from this is our clothes are made overseas and you should wear synthetic fibre clothing longer.
I think the message should be try and buy local if possible, natural fibre clothing. We should be approaching retailers to encourage a shift towards non-synthetic fibre clothing, and we should be asking why the government does not do more to help the local clothing industry.
