I’m on a tram in Naarm/Melbourne- weee. #Brisbane - we need to bring these back. Or at least the Metro needs major expansion onto public roads.
(Saw a Metro on Kingsford Smith Drive on Tuesday.)
We watched this young Laughing Kookaburra for a while, hoping for a shot with some exciting prey. It swooped down from this hunting spot a few times, but for the most part I think it got to eat mud and bark (as evidenced by the beak-tip decorations)
The young birds have entirely black beaks, and what would be black features on the adult's face are brown
Hopefully it had better luck later, without our audience
Fun at Vertigo, at the #Brisbane Powerhouse. Food while your legs dangle over the rather big drop; then a jump off the top of the roof! The jump was terrifying.
Voted! Nice to be able to vote in advance (I’ll be out of the country on voting day). The candidates- local councillors, not Mayors - were there too, so it was good to be able to wish my candidate good luck. #brisbane#elections
Russell is an unsung hero of #OpenSource in Australia - it's his diligence and hard work that has kept the books straight for Linux Aus and auspiced conferences for several years now 👋
I just saw that London has a Craft Week and now I feel like Australia needs a Craft Week too. So many craft skills are disappearing. Sewing is enjoying a resurgence in recent years but crafts like tatting and lacemaking are dying out and traditional craft groups are finding it harder to attract younger people to pass their skills on to.
Australian Craft Week: Because when society collapses we need crafts to carve the paddle that will rescue us from shit creek.
