kkarhan,

Not to mention that #Microsoft ditching the #Kinect on the #XboxOne is a serious breach of #trust towards #GameDevs which now have to deal with an even more fragmented platform than the #Xbox360.

Needless to say that the only #Exclusive for the #Xbox One worth getting one for was #Halo5 and that's not enough to justify buying a #console for when the #MasterChiefCollection aka. #MustardBeefConnection is also available on #Steam...

Good news everyone!

OS/1337 now finally boots to a [quite castrated] version of / in glorious 80x25.

Thanks a lot to @SweetAIBelle and also thanks to @landley for nudging me in the right directions...

https://github.com/OS-1337/OS1337/issues/2#issuecomment-1839511578

kkarhan,

@landley @SweetAIBelle Personally, I prefer to just start with a minimal config and only add what I need...

In fact the current for said prerelease of OS/1337 is basically following the manual:
https://github.com/OS-1337/OS1337/blob/acce92c70f1bd79c61c6b9866bb2b6bada6ef6cc/docu/external/floppinux/floppinux-manual.pdf (page 3 & 4)

That sadly means I've yet to add and for anything beyond - style I/O to it.

My previous kernel with networking was like ~ 900k but I can trim it down further...

Phew, spent the day modifying a script from and integrating a script I had been using for months. Little touch of AI to help, but it turned out great. Next thing I produce I need to work on using as few dependencies as possible, however, at least this gives you some major advantages. You can switch the player by editing the live.py file.

Someone asked me in regards to OS/1337 "why don't you just use mkroot from @landley ?"

https://landley.net/toybox/downloads/binaries/mkroot/latest/

And that is a valid question.

To sum it up:

  1. for requires 3MiB of storage and thus is not an option for the 1440kB target size of the current, minimalist system.

  2. shure I could instead make a but that feels like cheating...

  3. In the end the idea of OS/1337 is to build a -based that can be built to run on everything.

About a year ago I borrowed Horizon: Forbidden West from a friend and played (and solved) it on the PS4. Thought it was an absolutely amazing game, visually spectacular. That was on 1080p.

Bought it yesterday for $20 (half price, new) since I knew that there was a free upgrade to the PS5 version included.

Good god. It hasn’t disappointed. 4K HDR 120fps on this thing is unbelievable. Literally the most amazing, detailed, vibrant graphics I’ve ever seen in my life. One hundred gigabytes install footprint notwithstanding. The visuals take one’s breath away. Phenomenal game too.

Looking forward to solving it a second time.
