"Contrary to conventional wisdom, human brilliance emerges not from our innate brainpower or raw computational capacities, but from the sharing of information in communities and networks over generations."
For 5 years, I taught an online course on intro to #cooperation studies: what we are learning from converging biological, evolutionary, psychological, sociological, economic, computational, political inquiries into how humans and other critters get things done together. I've compiled the videoconferences, lectures, syllabus in a free pdf
“We hope that this list of design principles for risk pooling systems can be a resource for scholars and students, helping us all go beyond the assumption that generosity requires reciprocity. Because when the shit hits the fan, it turns out it’s the cooperators who thrive.”
"Platform cooperatives are businesses that sell goods or services primarily through a website, mobile app, or protocol. They rely on democratic decision-making and shared platform ownership by workers and users.'
I taught an online course on Intro to Cooperation Studies for 8 years. I've combined the syllabus and recordings of videoconference lecture-discussions in this free PDF.
US Law requires some things, and without an act of Congress changing the law, the law stands.

It is the policy of the United States...
(2) To help the Government of Israel preserve its qualitative military edge amid rapid and uncertain regional political transformation."
In this subsection, the term 'qualitative military edge' means the ability to counter and defeat any credible conventional military threat from any individual state or possible coalition of states or from non-state actors, while sustaining minimal damages and casualties...
"...through the use of superior military means, possessed in sufficient quantity, including weapons, command, control, communication, intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance capabilities that in their technical characteristics are superior in capability to those of such other individual or possible coalition of states or non-state actors."

Moldova is more than a close friend.
It is part of our European family.
Despite Russia’s destabilisation attempts, #Moldova has undertaken a reform-oriented agenda to get closer to our Union.
In this journey, we have stood firm at its side by providing over €1.09 billion in assistance since 2021 and mobilising €673 million for flagship projects.
Our new #EU Partnership Mission will help tackle destabilisation efforts and further deepen our #cooperation.
Moldova, you are not alone.

The term "social dilemma" describes a phenomenon that occurs in most organisms -- when individual rationality leads to collective irrationality.
A literature review summarizes the research in a particular subfield or phenomenon in narrative form. The late Peter Kollock's literature review of social dilemma research is so well done I assigned it to students who were working on literature reviews.
In many group-living species, high-rank individuals bully their group-mates to get what they want, but their contribution is key to success in conflict with other groups, according to a study that sheds new light on the evolutionary roots of cooperation and group conflict.
Tolerance + #Cooperation = Peace
“It feels like mine,” she says. “We work hard, but it’s a totally different feeling from working for someone else.”
That sentiment is echoed by Mondragón’s 70,000 other workers. Made up of 81 autonomous #cooperatives the corporation has grown since its creation in 1956 to become a leading force in the Basque economy.
More than its economic success, though, Mondragón has become a beacon for the co-operative model, as a more humane and egalitarian way of doing business that puts “people over capital”. Every worker has a stake in the company’s fortunes and a say in how it is run, and receives a share of the profits. But the goal is more about creating “rich societies, not rich people”. That means looking after workers during not only the good times but the tough times, too." https://www.theguardian.com/lifeandstyle/2024/apr/24/in-the-us-they-think-were-communists-the-70000-workers-showing-the-world-another-way-to-earn-a-living?CMP=share_btn_url
Western agronomists changed the traditional agricultural system in Bali, and when that caused crops to increase and then the whole system collapsed, Stephen Lansing from Santa Fe Institute organized an interdisciplinary effort to find out why. They discovered that the quasi-religious traditional water temple system was a sophisticated socio-cultural solution to complex social dilemmas.
