Joskus toivon, että mulla olisi ihan joku muu kuulonäkövammaa aiheuttava geenivirhe tai joku sairaus, jossa olisi jotain tolkkua. Ai miksikö ajattelen näin? No siksi että:
Joko meni aivot solmuun? Ei ihme! Tämä usherin syndrooma on niin outo sairaus / vamma.
Yesterday, one market called #SpellCheck an AI and does not want your work if you use spell check. Doesn't every #Author use spell (and grammar) check?
Another claims if they suspect the story is AI, they will block your email, and not even reply or verify.
#Autistic, #Blind, #DeafBlind, cognitively disabled, and people for whom English is a second language will be left forever waiting on a reply.
American Foundation for the Blind (AFB) is conducting a study, documenting the #accessibility challenges that #blind, low vision, and #deafblind people experience while using mobile web sites and apps.
You'll fill out 5-10 minute daily diaries for ten days with your experiences. you'll receive $40 gift cert for completing the diary entries. you must be: 18; living in the U.S.; and use assistive tech with apps and/or mobile sites.
I've been talking about taking Callisto to the French Quarter to do some training now it's cooled down and since Mardi Gras is in like what... 5 months? So my work interpreter-- and one of my bffs-- surprised me today with braille maps of the French Quarter and the Central Business District so I can take them on our adventure. Yes I know we have GPS but sometimes it helps me to have physical copies of things like this especially when it's spacial information. #Deafblind#braille#ServiceDog
So then: iOS can tell if you've been listening to loud audio for long enough to affect your hearing. However, this will be completely off base if you have any kind of hearing loss. So, Apple, if you feel like adding in small tweaks to current features that will make them more usable to more people, add in a hard of hearing mode that either uses more inclusive measuring threshholds, or that allows us to turn off measuring completely.
Yes, headphone notifications are completely turned off. I am really deaf at the moment post failed right ear grommet insertion and my Bose NC700S are almost maxed out when adjusted to my volume and balance needs. If I listen to anything that's even a little bit quiet, I'm stuck. #HardOfHearing#Deaf#DeafBlind#iOS#A11Y#Accessibility#Inclusion#Design
I'm #Deafblind and need both hands to read my #braille display but that doesn't prevent me from also petting the puppy while I read! Multi-tasking is the name of the game! #DogsOfMastodon
Heitän seuraavissa postauksissa tilanteita ja omia ajatuksia hoivapuheesta, jota olen itse joutunut kuuntelemaan.
Mikä on hoivapuhe :thinking_hard: 👇
"ELDERSPEAK eli vanhuksille suunnattu hoivapuhe on käytännön esimerkki typistämisestä tai lapsellistamisesta. Vanhoille ihmisille lässytetään ja leperrellään kuin pikkulapselle.
#blind#HomeAssistant users can, probably, be counted on the fingers of one hand. There may well not be any #DeafBlind HA users here at all. However, just in case someone's out there... As you know, it's sometimes hard to know whether a particular device is running. Those of us with #HearingAids and telecoils can listen to devices or cables to note whether current is flowing but this depends on the quality of hearing, shielding, interference, etc. tactually available fans may be absent or off.
I'm sure everyone who wants to know about this already does but, just in case anyone has, particularly if #blind or #DeafBlind, been looking for a local method of converting speech to text ... Whisper is an ML model from OpenAI which allows doing that. It can be used accessibly with all screen readers on Windows. Obviously, this is great for those of us with impaired hearing, it is certainly far more accurate than any of the speech to text programs I've seen, needs no training, and can handle background noise quite well. The audio duration limits are set by your hard drive space and the amount of time you're willing to put into transcription, I've transcribed several hours of audio without difficulty, it just takes time. It's available on Windows using https://github.com/Softcatala/whisper-ctranslate2 which just seems to need python. A GPU makes it faster, but it's usable on an I5 CPU. The model is also available online at https://freesubtitles.ai though that requires payment or waiting for long periods to transcribe limited amounts of audio. Thanks to @Bryn for the pointer at whisper-ctranslate2. #whisper#SpeechToText
A great day out was had. Myself and my support worker went in to #Melbourne where I met up with the #DeafBlind group. We had lunch, and then a guest speaker spoke about #mentalhealth. It was very informative. I then had a quick coffee before heading home and having lamb steaks with mashed potatoes for dinner.
