Little darling, I feel that ice is slowly melting sunset (h/t George Harrison), Hidden Lake, Fall Mountain, Plymouth, Connecticut. February 18, 2018, 5:44 PM. After a day of thawing, numerous holes in the ice reflect the pinks and golds of a sunset under a crescent moon.
Highs in February here ranged between 33°F (0.6°C) and 78°F (25.6°C). The drop from 74°F to 36°F between the 27th and 28th was mind-boggling. Having to use both the A/C and heater within a 24 hour period is something else.
Today in Labor History February 24, 1917: The Petrograd bread riot that started yesterday (March 8 on Western calendars) turned into a revolution. Soldiers refused to fire on demonstrators and turned on their officers. Then they stormed the arsenal and liberated 20,000 automatic pistols, torched the police stations and emptied the prisons.
