I really am trying hard to not let these self righteous busy bodies run me off this platform and back to #MuskyTwitter or #Spoutible#BlueSky#post#linkedIn just a random thought from today.
I love bullshit dark patterns like the one I just encountered with #LinkedIn. I was trying to cancel the Premium subscription because my trial ends on Thursday. I opened the mobile app, dug through the settings until I found the right page only to see a message that I need to visit their website to perform the cancellation.
When you support your arguments with #livedExperience, it is widely and wildly considered good form when both the experience and the life you are referring to largely intersect with, you know, your own.
Last night I finally deleted my #LinkedIn account. It was last #BigTech owned service I used (and rarely even log in last two years).
So am I fully #corpfree now? :blobcattilt:
It was also ethical matter for me, I didn't want to deal with #Microsoft, so morally bankrupt corporation, in any way. Both for data stealing, #privacy violations and disrespect for users and for compliance with authoritarian governments and creating #surveillance technologies for oppression.
Yes, I wrote this in form as a reason, in more detailed way, until I used character limit.
Now I feel... More coherent? And it's good feeling.
LinkedIn targets users caught between TikTok and what used to be Twitter
"Two weeks ago, TechCrunch broke the news that LinkedIn was getting into games, helping users “deepen relationships” through puzzle-based interactions. And on Wednesday, TechCrunch reported that the Microsoft-owned social network was experimenting with short-form videos."
Surprising enough i'm spending more time on #LinkedIn as my "other than #Mastodon social space".
While recruiter and over the top marketing folks are there, they are easy enough to avoid and ignore surprisingly enough.
Not sure why. Initial impressions is that there are more "news" links vs "snarky/hot takes and reactive" takes. Less negativity. More business, less geek (therefore balances my reading with here). Could never spend a lot of time there daily but it can be a breath of fresh air.
It should not have taken me 45 minutes or more to setup 2FA again with LinkedIn. And then to have repeatedly failed because it couldn't verify the 2FA code I was feeding it after entering the secret key, ... To say that I'm pissed is an understatement.
I got an email saying someone had tried to log into my LinkedIn account. So I changed my password despite having 2FA enabled just to be on the safe side.
As I was there, I just had a browse around and a scroll through the timeline. That place is just one giant circle jerk, isn’t it? 😬
