The Two Towers is the reason The Lord of the Rings was so successful from an entertainment point of view. Many stories suffer from a weak middle, but Tolkien managed to pull us readers in with iconic character dynamics (Frodo, Sam & Gollum) and immersive environments. This compensates for the slow beginning of the first and the dragging end of the last book, that had to be improved in the movies. For the Two Towers, however, the adaptations didn't need much change. #lotr#Tolkien#TheTwoTowers
I'm a network design engineer that enjoys #nfl (Chicago Bears) Lord of The Rings, #marvel /DC, #starwars , epic fantasies/sci-fi (book and cinema), and video games (MMOS and RPGS with some FPS and Strategy). also enjoy having conversations about #science , society, #news, and #politics . And l love learning new things!
I also have a dog, Elroy, who is 13 and is full of character.
Rereading The Lord of the Rings…again…the hobbits just left Bree with Strider. Can we talk about how much of a bada$$ Samwise is already showing himself to be?? I’ve always said Sam’s the real hero of the series. #lotr #lotrtrilogy
Whoa! Glad I decided to wait until main stage panel announcements before I gave up on #EmeraldCityComicCon. Frodo, Sam and Gimli are all going up be at #ECCC! #LOTR#Seattle
Read more about the year ahead in The Lord of the Rings Online!
The calendar turns, and 2023 moves behind us. We welcome the New Year with grace and humility. We are about to celebrate LotRO's 17th year with no sign of slowing down on the horizon.
You know, it wasn't until @Adam_Cadmon1 posting about #LoTR that I realized that #HarryPotter is just a poorly plagiarized retelling made for kids. Like, J.K. Rowling really just changed a few details and hit 'print'.
What are the Death Dealers, if not the Nazgul?
Harry Potter is no more than Frodo Baggins.
Who brings the young protagonist into a world of danger, adventure, and magic? None other than an old wizard with ties to his family.
You all seemed to enjoy the last bit of #Tolkien trivia I shared. Here's something else I just learnt: Queen Margrethe II of Denmark produced fan art for both The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings! (Apparently the original illustrations were done around 1977; they were "re-drawn" by Eric Fraser in about 2002.)
