I watched the two episode #BattlestarGalactica miniseries from 2003 today, and I have some mixed feelings (though mostly positive). For some reference, I grew up watching every #StarTrek show from TOS through ENT (except the animated series. Never found enough interest to try it). The #Stargate shows also hold a special place in my heart (I absolutely love every sound the gates make).
Regarding Battlestar Galactica, I like the way they handle information on the bridge and the ship. It's interesting to see something that massive designed for cyber warfare. Wireless technology is almost completely rejected. Systems that must communicate over a distance are either wired (the intercoms) or air-gapped (ship-to-ship radios). There's binders, printouts, and dry-erase boards everywhere.
I do think their radio systems could use some more explanation… Maybe I missed them addressing this, but I would be concerned about the Cylons impersonating other ships. Even if the ship systems can't be compromised by the radio, the humans could still be manipulated. At one point they "verify" a message, but I'd really like to know what that entails…
The space cinematography reminded me a lot of #StargateUniverse. Shaky, long distance shots that quickly zoom in on something. Not sure if that was just the style at the time, but I find it kinda nostalgic.
On a similar note… Is 2000s sci-fi just oddly horny? I don't think I've seen enough shows to actually make that judgement. It just sticks out at me that the similarities between BSG and SGU include sexual scenes that I feel don't quite fit or aren't actually needed. There's already plenty of sources for drama and conflict in those shows; do you really need to graphically add in sexual relationships as another?
Anyways… I did enjoy the miniseries! Probably going to watch the show as well.

Ich bin jetzt mit Folge 19 von Staffel 10 von #StargateSG1 durch und es wurde gerade ein neuer Plot aufgemacht… Ich bin mir nicht sicher, wie sie das in einer Folge schaffen wollen.
Ich habe das Gefühl, dass bis geplant war die Serie nach 10 Staffeln zu beenden. 😕
Damit habe ich #StargateSG1 jetzt beendet. Seit meiner Kindheit meine Lieblingsserie und ich sehe das erste Mal das Ende. 😅
Die gesamte 10. Staffel wirkt so, als würde sie sich auf eine finale epische 11. Staffel vorbereiten. Aber es gibt keine.
Ohne @Sirs0ri wäre ich jetzt vermutlich etwas frustriert, aber durch die Antwort auf den letzten Post weiß ich, dass der Film #Stargate Ark of Truth direkt an die letzte Folge anschließt. Vielleicht kriege ich also noch mein Ende. Und irgendwie ist es auch passend, dass eine Serie mit einem Film startet und dann auch so endet.
Ich bin gespannt.
Als der Abspann lief, hatte ich erstmal Tränen in den Augen. Seitdem ich mich erinnern kann, begleitet mich diese Serie. Wenn es mir richtig schlecht ging, half mir diese Serie. Und der gesamte Cast ist mir extrem ans Herz gewachsen. Es ist komisch jetzt Abschied zu nehmen.
Aber morgen hab ich noch den Film und somit gibt es noch eine letzte Reise für mich mit SG-1. 💚
Ok, jetzt bin ich zufrieden. #Stargate Arc of Truth ist tatsächlich ein guter Abschluss. Wirkt ein bisschen wie eine Doppelfolge mit ein klein bisschen mehr Budget. Genauso derpy wie die Serie, aber man der Ernsthaftigkeit, dem Ganzen ein Ende zu geben. 💚
Man hat etwas gemerkt, dass sie eine neue große Kamera für Filme dafür hatten. In der ersten Hälfte war der Fokus regelmäßig komplett falsch gesetzt. 😅 Aber das unterstreicht auch einfach nur den Charm der gesamten Serie.

Wie oft ich schon auf Social Media über #StargateSG1 geschrieben habe und es kam nie sinnvolle Resonanz.
Damals auf schülerVZ/meinVZ wurde ich ausgelacht, weil es nicht Star Trek oder Star Wars ist.
Bei Facebook gab damals es kaum Reaktionen und auch da nur, wie viel besser doch Star Trek ist.
Beim Vogel gab es schlichtweg nie Reaktionen außer ein paar Likes.
Und hier? Wirklich tolle Diskussionen zu meiner Lieblingsserie. Und nicht nur, dass man das auch mal geschaut hat, sondern wirklich tiefes Wissen zur Serie und eben auch Menschen, welche sich die Staffeln nach O'Neill angeschaut haben.
Ich habe #Stargate bisher immer nur bis einschließlich Staffel 8 gesehen. Das O'Neill danach weg ist war für mich immer der Punkt, an dem Überzeugung 1 bestätigt wurde.
Nun schaue ich es das erste Mal weiter. Staffel 9 war ziemlich gut und ich bin gerade mit Folge 9 Staffel 10 durch. Und ich bin echt verblüfft, wie gut mir die Serie immer noch gefällt.
Sie haben die anderen Charaktere so gut über 8 Staffeln aufgebaut, dass die Serie auch ohne die Hauptperson funktioniert. So viele Charaktere sind weggefallen, aber mit Samantha Carter, Daniel Jackson und Teal'C hat die Serie immer noch so extrem viel Charakter.
Mitchell ist cringey, aber das war O'Neill auch. Und sie haben es auch hier geschafft ihn likable zu machen. General Landry ist ebenso ein guter Ersatz für Hammond.
Keine Ahnung, wie es endet (Ich will es nicht wissen, wer spoilert wird instant geblockt), aber ich freue mich schon auf die letzten 11 Folgen.
Irgendwie passend und beruhigend, dass die beste Serie aller Zeiten es schafft über Staffel 8 hinaus gut zu bleiben. ☺️

With all the posts about #StargateSG1 I decided to take the plunge. Started by re-watching the original movie starring James Spader & Kurt Russell. I had forgotten a lot of it. The last 1/3 of the flick is forgettable but the entire world building/discovery is compelling.
The pilot of SG-1 picks up a year after the events of the film & so far I like it. Richard Dean Anderson as Russell’s character is interesting. He’s now the alpha male instead of the nerd (Macgyver), interesting role reversal
There are misfires and mediocre episodes like any series, but on the whole, the #Stargate series just gets better and better. & you've got 17 seasons to look forward too. I envy you.

Pour les fans de #Stargate, ce live avec Brad Wright qu'on peut voir comme le père de la franchise même si il est loin d'avoir été tout seul, il n'en est pas moins le co-créateur avec Jonathan Glassner. Bref, un live plutôt exceptionnel, la disponibilité de Brad Wright étant assez précieuse du fait de sa rareté.
