Our last day in #Utah! It was almost 80º and sunny. Just beautiful. We decided on #hiking a loop trail in the mountains. Well... There were patches of snow as we hiked and we were amused. Our puppy loved it and rolled in it. Then about 75% in, we were knee deep in snow. Did I mention I was wearing shorts? and sandals? My toes were so cold. It was too late to turn around, but with lots of breaks and rubbing life back into my feet, we made it. Utah will not soon be forgotten...
Since I started photographing birds in Texas, we have been keeping track of all the birds we identify in the eBird app. The app is useful in telling us which birds are common to the area and if they have been seen in the last week. According to the app, 98 different species have been identified at the Bear River Migratory Bird Refuge in the past week. Today, we identified 29-- ten of which we have never seen before Utah! This yellow-headed blackbird is one of the new ones to us.
