I keep trying to make sense of this as an analogue of the Buddhist monks who self-immolated in Saigon, during the Diem regime. But the manifesto defeats that analogy. As another commenter put it, this was 'down the rabbit hole.'

I was originally on Newsvine, under skydog. They closed.
Next, I was on Twitter, first under skydog, but then 'guy in the chalk outline'. Musk kicked me off w/in 48 hrs of buying it, and now, I understand, one of his stans is running under 'guy in the chalk outline.' I've little doubt that one of the Elona Lumpas has also assumed skydog as a moniker.

If you followed Angry Staffer, you probably saw a lot of me. We had something close to a dialogue.

I think the prosecution was getting a "Danger, Will Robinson" vibe. With so many prospectives being called, it sounds like they will dismiss a jury candidate for the least little thing, and this guy took a little umbrage. Pique about not getting picked is a surefire sign that the judge made the right decision.

Bill Withers has become much more mentioned, lately.

I played poker with him once, without even knowing who he was. I was 'officer of the day' as a cadet, at our AF Academy performance building the nite he had a concert there. I was playing bs poker ( you know, "I bet ten thousand dollars!") at the duty desk as the warm-up act was playing when this guy walks up and asks if he can join us. We play for about 10 minutes, the warm-up is winding up, and this guy gets up, says, "I guess it's time to go to work", and walks into the audience entrance to the hall. I went over to check it out, and he's walking up on stage, and picking up his guitar. Yep. Bill Withers. regular guy.

It's going around, these days. Intuit lost its Turbotax lawsuit, and now many of its commercials are trying to paint their copious restrictions around their 'free service' as being a plus for the consumer.

Fulfilling the requirement put on them by the court for disclosure with even more puffery.

This trial hasn't even started yet, not one witness. Yet...

I'm getting Doomers galore in my feed.

A Trumpy helped convict him in an earlier trial.

The prosecutors are vetting the jurors carefully.

I am not Dooming. Not yet.

Can we wait for the trial to be in full swing before predicting the worst possible outcome? Or do people thrive on constant pessimism? I just don't.

I don't imagine he got a lot of sleep, last night.

I used to go thru the same thing before a simulator checkride, which would not have been as intense...and still not a minute of sleep.

He's in a stress position where I'm fairly confident he's going to fuck up, and think he's righteous. Probably with some disturbance in court. If so, I hope it's handled with appropriate dispatch.

She went into the taco joint thinking that she was giving money to people who would soon be destroyed...

The same people she later accused of stealing, were the ones she initially thought were the chumps. The ones she was pulling something over, on!

Of course, this is anecdotal, and shows how, within Christianity, a mere 95% of a group can ruin it for the other 5%.

    I've seen comments about karma catching up to him.

    It's not karma when you can maliciously take lives and then live out a relatively normal life span, not imprisoned for the murders. I don't much care that the rest of his life was plagued.

    Simpson, as much as anything, has symbolized where our justice system fails. Where we as a people fail. OJ may be 'at peace', but he has left a long trail of disturbance behind.

    re. the quote. It's an important point. Yes, officers technically have the responsibility to deny an unConstitutional order. But there are 3 major points to be made. 1) It's an individual, possibly existential, decision. Ergo, extremely difficult to make, given the risk. 2) The President has resources that make that action he contemplates replicatable thru many other channels. It'll probably get done, anyway 3) It's largely untested, in the public record. Oh, except maybe MacArthur...and I don't think that counts.

    If Hankey is watching Trump's 1% premium on the bond (~$1.75M/yr), instead of the bond amount and collateral, he hasn't read Trump's books or been alive during Trump's administration.

    Now, the other possibility is there is a $176.75M favor that someone wants to 'ask', in the 'pound of flesh' category.

    I think this is a cogent question! Do we have a fair bio of his life? Where he schooled, where he vacationed, who he's married, and, of course, the major flows of the money that he has either created, or accepted.

    What we know of his values now, is shocking enough for anyone interested in preserving religious freedom. That may just be the tip of the iceberg.

    If a person wants an elevated position such as he holds, we demand they be an open book. If they represent us, we have to know their allegiances other than us.
