Anarchists in Chile are trying to recover from a deadly forest fire that destroyed communes, popular soup kitchens, and anarchist infrastructure in Valparaíso, Viña del Mar and Quilpué.

The Anarchist Assembly of Valparaíso and the Flora anarchist space are trying to raise €1000. They have 6 days to meet their fundraising goal in order to receive the funds.

Hello and welcome to the first of what we hope will be a many episodes of our new series, This Day in Anarchist History!

In this series we’ll make brief primers on historical anarchist events, uprisings, bios of famous anarchists and beginnings of autonomous communities around the world and throughout time. It’s our hope that by understanding our past we can put our current social movements into broader perspective and fight for a better future.

In our premier episode we examine The Paris Commune, a short lived uprising when a broad coalition of the working classes took control of the city on March 18th 1871 and held out under siege until the end of May when the French national army entered Paris and executed thousands of rebels.

In the coming years, anarchists would seek vengeance for their comrades who fell at the Paris commune.

On December 30th, Klee Benally joined the ancestors. Klee was a Diné anarchist, author, musician, land defender and community organizer based in the occupied lands of so-called Flagstaff Arizona. He was an influential and powerful voice who consistently challenged anarchists in Turtle Island to kill the colonizer in their own heads, and to incorporate an anticolonial analysis into their political frameworks.

This interview was conducted with Klee in 2019, as part of Trouble : ACAB. In it, he discusses the colonial roots of policing in the so-called United States, and the experiences of racial profiling faced by Indigenous people living in the cities that dot the colonial border between the US and Mexico.

Those who haven't done so should check out Klee's writings online, including his book No Spiritual Surrender: Indigenous Anarchy in Defense of the Sacred, published in 2023 by Detritus Books.

In hindsight, that was incredibly over-ambitious of us. We are still working on the film, and we're hoping to have it finished sometime next year (2024)... but we've also learned our lesson about including an end date after missing our previous deadlines twice.

I've turned these two options on in Mastodon's «Preferences», but when I try to search up anything in the instance I'm logged into to see my past toots with the keywords in question, I don't see anything. When I try to search up my username, even, I can't find anything of my Mastodon on Google nor DuckDuckGo.

We don't have the search function enabled on this instance. It's something we're considering adding in the future, and if we do add it, we will update people to let them know. Currently this should just affect whether your profile itself is searchable within Kolektiva or on other Mastodon instances.
