A lot of people who had been regularly posting here in the are missing now.

I know many of them are still active on #X () and while posting here they were actually cross posting. I looked at a few of those accounts and found most of their posts here stopped around 180+ days ago. Probably the time when twitter made some restrictions to their usage that prevented people from ?

One actually went the route of 👉 ‘leave’ :twitter: > Fediverse > Spoutible > ‘back’ to :twitter: and no longer posts here.

Fickle? Perhaps. But as some say, you can’t blame them - some have worked years to build (well) a clout and they can’t get (or convince) their followers on :twitter: to join the Fediverse. That Star Trek guy is one ‘celeb’ I know who posts on both sites.

On the bright side, there’s many joining too. I can see it when I look at my Fediverse tab.

@Deus @gopal none of those people care about an alternative. they wanted their friends to join them and they just won't. it's the same reason you can't tell your normie friends to ditch discord. "all my friends use it"

that being said. these people need to be pushed back when they arrive because then and their entire culture is gay

Sheep mentality, I know. They’re the ones who rush to the mall or a movie once they’re TOLD (or realize) it’s mainstream.

@Deus two weeks to stop the curve my friend (of people posting on mastodon)

True.. it's a network effect. You need a large number of people with whom you interact on your current platform to move onto , otherwise it makes little sense.

One of the reasons for many to was to encourage others to move, but cross posting also has the disadvantage that people see you still active on the old place, hence don't bother to move.. it's a vicious cycle.

Same like asking people on whatsapp to use a more privacy focused app like signal or xmpp!

As they say, “Social media is HARD. It’s all about patience and see IF it clicks.” 🙂

Think of LI back in the early 2000s. NO ONE (at least in India) understood its use (or potential) and was joining it. But look at it now.

@gopal Which means they were never truly dedicated to leaving .

I'd dare say, some of them may even secretly like the new direction. They may say otherwise, but their actions are loud and clear.

Probably yes. I'm not worried about what people use as primary platform. But I appreciate they were willing to share their views in too.

Probably many are not aware, their is not working now. I posted here with the hope that some of them might realise, seeing this.

And I'm not judging people based on their SM platform preference. Many on twitter don't subscribe to it's owners ideology, but are there becoz that's where the people with whom they communicate are.
