@dansup I built a tumblr clone and then conected it to the fedi. There is an alpha for the instructions on self hosting. It might have some bugs and the UI needs lotsvof improvements
I noticed you use PHP, did you by chance use the Pixelfed source as a reference for the Http Sigs, or how did you figure that out? (Curious if there is a php based http sig post or explainer somewhere)
@dansup The sigs was the biggest issue I had with it and yes I was in the PixelFed source at one point trying to work it out. I had 4 or 5 different implementations open because it definitely wasn't clear to me exactly how they're supposed to work.

It's an RSS aggreggator for the Verified Links of the accounts you follow, so you have a 24h news of the personal blogs and quirky websites from the people your favourite Mastodon people.
I can't seem to get it to work, after adding my handle and pressing submit nothing happens, it does look like a scrollbar is present to scroll horizontally but I can't scroll.
@dansup Thanks for trying it out! I can think of two things:
The server you are in made its API private (less probable, at least on my experience)
Your account has private follows
I couldn't check who you follow from your account profile, so I think it's the second scenario.
It still a WIP, but one thing I need to add is App registration, so the website registers itself on the Mastodon server and generates a OAuth token to get the private follows from the account that allows it.
@dansup Until the people own the infrastructure and the revenue from the platforms the people will always remain the product.
I don't even know if my toots are getting out and rarely visit Mastodon because I don't understand the interface.
If advertisers had the user SELECT adverts via OPT-IN parameters so they get adverts they NEED instead of what the advertiser is trying to sell it would be better. A second feature that would be great is if advertisers were to have their adverts rated and if they rating goes negative the advert is no longer shown to anyone. All of a sudden adverts would have CONTENT that people upvote and are prepared to see. Sort of like what YT does with their DIY videos except with adverts and the PEOPLE earn the advertising revenue.
I hope someone with the power to speak to the correct people sees this.
@dansup@aral while people over profits is a good goal, do ensure that you can eat and have a decent roof over your head: people are willing to pay for good software and services... and hosting something costs money, and people need to eat. Thanks for building!
