I was watching a video essay yesterday from a YouTuber who USED to do decent content breaking down the rise and fall of various toxic celebrities (I'm interested only from a psychological study angle) but he put up a new one that was suddenly straight up misogynistic... And I'm not sure if he felt that way all along and just decided to be more open about it, or if he decided he's going to have more success pandering to rightwingers. Either way I immediately unsubscribed and marked "do not recommend this channel", but that's all that YouTube lets you do, you can't actually ban channels entirely, so he still shows up in searches 🙃 @StillIRise1963@Lazarou

The economy of the slave states before the Civil War demonstrates this. Even if you ignore the inhumanity of it, slavery is a bad idea.
The current replacement rate in the US is ~1.7 (that is, 1.7 kids per 2 adults) so unless the Republicans let more immigrants in they're going to run out of people to grift.
#Capitalism depends on our cooperation, but only for a little while longer. Soon our compliance will be mandatory and our birthrate no longer up to us.
So, let's enjoy those consumer goods and hope our unwilling descendents don't ever know exactly how little we revolted.
@StillIRise1963 People can be replaced with machines but then you have to dispose of all the surplus, non-productive people. In the 19th century, colonisation was the answer. Many of the convicts Britain sent to its colonies were farm workers made redundant by mechanisation, who'd resorted to petty crime to support themselves. Other unwanted people like the rebellious Scots and Irish were given subsidised passage to the colonies.
Not so easy to do now, though witholding welfare and health care can raise the death rate, as can inhuman working conditions like requiring people to work outside in the hot sun with no water breaks. These kinds of policies see human life as disposable.
The mechanism is already on the books. Combine that with private for-profit prisons, and it's almost an inevitability.

Like - their entire worldview revolves around in-group benefit and out-group exploitation/destruction. When the out-group is all gone, the in-group will be re-evaluated and a new out-group created.

Sounds an awful lot like simping for Capitalist exploitation. They're trying to combine the two and create a huge power imbalance, so they can relive the glory days of slave ownership through worker exploitation with all of a person's basic needs in the hands of the Capitalist Masters. In #Alberta the UCP has also been pushing for all the years they've been in office to legitimate child labour with little to NO pay, by repealing every act that the NDP had put in place to protect against it. From re-introducing sub-minimal wages for youth workers (formerly it was for tipped workers), to fighting against Occupational Health and Safety standards in rural industry, actually arguing that this would hinder families from putting their kids to work. #abpoli

Big corps have made workers wage slaves, tied to jobs bc of housing, healthcare, and credit debt.
The huge Strikes that have hit this year were a wake up call, no industry is immune and there's a sense of "fed up with the oligarch boardroom" that does not look good for Republicans in the '24 election.
