The best part of every Columbo episode is the roughly 30-minute window when the murderer is overconfident and thinks Columbo’s just some kind of cute imbecile …

The theme from Hawaii Five-O is the best TV show theme ever invented, so good they used it twice.
But if you're talking about a TV theme song with the dirtiest, low-down, meanest bass line, look no further than Barney Miller.

Everyone knows the iconic openings of this one. But some fun trivia is this is actually Suzanne Somers in the brunette wig, that causes John Ritter to fall down into the Santa Monica Beach sand.

Man from Atlantis (1977) was the first of four successful TV-movies, to be followed by an unsuccessful series. It's a reasonably interesting story about a water-breathing man from Atlantis stuck in the modern world. Features a fine mad scientist.

MarkMaguire,

@d4doome I didn’t realise the sequence of TV movies leading to a series. I only remembered it as a series, of which I was a big fan at the time (I think I had an annual).

Does the MAS*H theme make GenX and Boomers feel all warm and fuzzy like it's bedtime too?

Or is that a millennial thing?

Zoomers: "Wtf is MAS*H"

DrOinFLA,

@freakinbox
Some of the episodes can still make me cry real tears.
Especially the last one, "Goodbye, Farewell, Amen."
Such good writing and performances.

TODAY IN QUEER TV HISTORY

ABC WORLD NEWS TONIGHT - 6/27/1976, ABC

Seven years after Stonewall, ABC News reported that that gay groups were marching in NYC to end discrimination. Also, a report on the push for the Democratic Party support for gay equality: there would be openly gay delegates at the 1976 Democratic National Convention.

Archie Bunker would have been a culty Trump supporter, no question.
Always “the Blacks” this, and “the Queers “ that, with an occasional, well-timed N-word.
Fucking Trumper.

DrOinFLA,

@alexpostfacto
I found it!
It was actually on the Jeffersons.
Tom says “Don’t call me honky! How would you like it if I called you N——-?”
George’s and Weezy’s reactions are comedy legend.
We’ll never see such progressive TV again in our lifetimes.
