‘Spurred by new archival research and public comments by [Judy] Singer about trans people, a group of autistic academics and advocates argue that “#neurodiversity” should be credited to the early online #autistic community instead.’
@mcdutchie@neurodiversity@actuallyautistic thank you Martjin thank you. Really enjoying reading this. I have been wanting to name K Stock's outdated and pejorative stance towards autistic peers for a while. Enjoying the clarity of Nick's writing. This work is so prescient and needed. Really not enjoying how the medicalisation of autism has contributed to Cass report and policy regarding trans lives.
Just popped in to visit 'Auntie Pat', that twisted, cantankerous curmudgeon. Now that I know she was probably #autistic a few things about her personal life make a little bit more sense.

@Faintdreams 0-20 is a really big range, I'd consider 6 to be around what's my highest. I can't think properly with many tabs open, also being someone that never really had good hardware to handle this kind of thing, it has always been weird to me. I usually have one for YouTube and then maybe some other 3.
please help my friend TJ! their bank overdrafted them because it stopped sending notifications when funds were low and they didnt realize it ($39 fee gets added every day). every $1 is appreciated! thank you!
@smote@mutualaid TJ needs to close that account first thing in the morning. Go into the bank, insist that they close it, and ask them for a line of credit for the balance owed, which will come with a payment plan. If they won't give him one, go to a credit union and try to open an account there ($10) and apply for credit there, too. See if you can pay off the bank that way.
Always, always leave a margin in your checking account that's the average (or more) of your transactions.
About 80% of being late-diagnosed #neurodivergent (#ADHD, #autistic, or #Audhd) is finding out that we're not horrible fuckups who lack the willpower or moral fortitude to function like the normies. But rather that our brains just run on different firmware and we were never taught how deal with.
@st0neybrat Mom said to me once I was older that I'm arrogant.
Entirely unintentional.
And perhaps not only my fault. She once said she'd feel stupid when me and my dad had debates about stuff that's very "up there", i.e. high-brow stuff.
I didn't view her as stupid. We didn't share many interests, but stupid, she was not. I wish she would have understood that while she was still alive.
She often thought with the heart and not the brain, but the heart is not stupid. It just thinks differently.
When I sit and stare at something (I'm doing a lot of this the last few days) the material e.g. concrete, appears to undulate gently like the ocean. It's like I'm on a low dose of mushrooms all the time. Anyone know what this is about?
@NickSchwanck As a kid I was pretty good at making it happen by crossing and uncrossing my eyes. Turned out to be a useful (?) skill when those "hidden picture” books became popular.
