But what do those who use #Autodesk applications do with their files when they stop renewing their subscription?
Do they save in other formats such as USD ABC or how else can they access their files? #Maya#3dsMax
It presents as #OpenSCAD which I love, only you write #Python instead of that C-ish stuff it uses, and if I read correctly it's got a better underlying render engine. Only heard about it because someone did a #Gridfinity reimplementation with it, and all things being equal I would definitely rather use that than devil-begotten, temple-beridden, snot-encrusted #Autodesk products.
I am currently actively moving away from #Autodesk products, and the main reason is because of their predatory pricing.
Did you know Autodesk wants to monitor your usage and charge you for each day that you want to use their products? And they want you to buy their own special currency to do so, just like shitty F2P phone apps. How dystopian is that?
Especially when #Blender exists as a #FOSS option. Fuck Autodesk.
Wanted to share this. It's been a long road, but as of today and 11 months later, we've fully migrated from #Autodesk#Fusion360 to #FreeCAD. Every #3dprinting design that we've made in Fusion that we needed to back up has been re-made from the ground up in FreeCAD and is available on our GitHub.
oh how disgusted iam by blind #fanboys. When teenagers defend a clearly shitty, buggy game that is made to exploit the gamer like the promise of #starcitizen . These idiots make it into IT when they grow up and keep this mentality. defending something terrible like a troll his pile of dung. There is no "using the software wrong". When you create a polygon with 5 mm x 5 mm and it ends with 4.99 mm x 4.99 mm ITS NOT THE USER! #fusion360
well i didnt design this part to have an invisible endless long additional surface or what ever this is.no value, parameter or whatever i ever did was to insert any values or move something so it could produce such an error.
So yes, you can say iam using fusion360 wrong and say it isnt intended to do these things, which the moderators and the #support from #autodesk#fusion360 is actually doing.
#fusion360
So if you are looking into getting into fusion360 DONT! go with #freeCad use #blender . And best stay away from any #autodesk software as a company that wants 600€ for a timed licence where such basics dont work and get messed up is just bullshitting.
I just wish i would have known that when our project started 2 years ago.
as im still forced to keep using it,i will likely post more in the future. but now i feel relieved for the moment.
@sassageflare
My point is that entire racks full of interconnected cages full of storage, accelerators, NICs, etc. is quite common in #HPC, and #SGI basically made HPC solutions for CAD & VFX...
@sassageflare I mean it's one of those with the brushed aluminium and black grills designed by BMW DesignWorks USA so it looks awesome.
Plus it was eligible for licensing Autodesk's suite for #Linux with #RHEL 6 installed - cuz #Autodesk won't sell that to you if you didn't have "proof of qualifying hardware"...
Also the HP z-Series are the reference machines for Autodesk to develop for, so my machine propably was originally working for an engineering firm before it got refurb'd and sold...
I'm currently getting by with a mixture of Design Spark Mechanical, FreeCAD, and OpenSCAD for prototyping/editing files, I'd love to find a good alternative that isn't from a predatory company like Autodesk
Autodesk screws customers by turning lifetime licenses into subscriptions (odysee.com)

What 3d modeling software do you recommend in the year 2023?
