China's Initiative – and probably the World Bank and Western banks as well – are lending poor countries huge sums of money to spend on investments such as motorways and airports which can only ever repay that investment in a fossil fuel economy – an economy which guarantees .

How can we save the planet without driving those countries into utter destitution?
