"Hate is not a family value." Hmmm… I like that. Neither is bigotry.
Also note that the Maritime Union of Australia came out and supported rescinding the book ban. And thanks go to them. Perhaps a reminder for everyone to join a union.
If you haven't already heard the news, Cumberland Council in Sydney's west has voted to ban books that feature same-sex parents from public libraries in their LGA.
I will be speaking more on this issue, but you can send a message to councilors via Equality Australia, asking them to rescind the motion.

Whenever you see a news article about #BookBanning that seems unfathomable to you, it's something like this. Something that challenges rigid views on gender, sexuality, or race.
The days where book banning was about bad grammar in Junie B. Jones or potty humor in Captain Underpants aren't what we're dealing with now. Don't let book banners control the conversation by categorizing their efforts as absurd.
If you think it was ever about "saving the children" or "parent's rights", I've got a bridge to sell you.
