About the same time he learned of the parasite, #RFKJr said, he was also diagnosed w/ #MercuryPoisoning, most likely from ingesting too much fish containing the dangerous heavy metal, which can cause serious #neurological issues.
“I have #cognitive problems, clearly,” #Kennedy said in the 2012 #deposition. “I have short-term #memory loss, AND I have longer-term memory loss that affects me.”
A well-known quotation from Enchiridion of Epictetus was taught to most clients during the initial session of traditional REBT by Ellis and his followers: "It's not the events that upset us, but our judgments about the events. #cognitive
This picture is very weird to me, the #MiniCog is an instrument for assessing possible #cognitive decline in clinical practice. Part of the MiniCog is asking the person to fill in a round clock face with appropriate numbers and arms indicating "10 minutes past 11". Cognitive impairment can show up as in appropriately arranged numbers, bad spacing, arms pointed at the incorrect numbers, stuff like that. All of it gets scored along with a three word memory recall as an assessment.
Not kids. That's not where the 10 minutes past 11 language is used as far as I know.
It's just a weird meme.

Novice question for my fellow (#cognitive) #neuroscientists, from someone who has only worked with animals and models: what are the regulations around #humansubjectsresearch on #opensource repositories? Can anyone dig through the data freely (like for animal research - provided patients/subjects gave their initial consent and data is anonymized)? Or do you need to request institutional approval every time the open source dataset is accessed? Do you recommend any guidelines, references?
@amyedge. Totally agree! He is doing such important work with this series on #Trump's #cognitive deterioration.
As one of the people interviewed says (I'm paraphrasing), anyone who has been with someone with #dementia knows what is happening. And now me: that the media is not covering this 24/7 is scandalous. Or as #Dr.Gartner says, "Not enough people are sounding the alarm, that based on his behavior, and in my opinion, Donald Trump is dangerously demented."
An easy way to improve scoring of memory span tasks: The edit distance, beyond "correct recall in the correct serial position"
Gonthier in Behav. Res. Methods 2023
"in addition to being more logically consistent, edit-distance scoring demonstrates similar or better psychometric properties than partial-credit, with comparable validity, a small increase in reliability, and a substantial increase of test information"

It's fascinating how many "now disenchanted" #Republicans suddenly have come to the conclusion "T**** is not well" and suffering from "#cognitive issues".
This is not new. #Democrats were pointing this out 12 years ago when he began his #Birther insanity. His bizarre behavior was on full display during his presidency, yet The Right stood by him.
He defended #Putin & #Russia in 2015, took his side during his presidency, and is now actually ENCOURAGING him to invade our allies. 🤦♂️
Those of us old enough to remember a long stretch in the mid-to-late 1980s when we all @##! knew we had a #president experiencing MAJOR, RAPID #cognitive decline, who specialized in reading cue cards and pretending he couldn't hear questions--and only NARROWLY escaped being the first Prez unseated by his own Cabinet--are MORE THAN okay today with Joe #Biden and his team. WAY more.
More seriously, re Biden's Mitterand/Macron gaffe ⬆️, it's a nice example of an "everyday-memory" error, i.e. an error of active forgetting, a failure of the #cognitive inhibition-based capacity to select from among competing cognitive contents.
In other words, it's not that #Biden couldn't "remember" Macron was president: that content is most certainly "in there." Rather, he failed to inhibit or 'actively forget' the context inappropriate Mitterand content.

TLDR: We tested planning in 8 LLMs (GPT-4, 3.5, 3, LLama2, Alpaca, Claude-v1, Bard, Cohere) and identified failures like hallucinating invalid paths/falling in loops. The evidence does not support emergent zero-shot planning in LLMs.
