I want to escape Twitter, but that has turned out to be harder than I thought. Mainly because of 213K followers. It took more than 8 years to achieve that.

But Mastodon has potential. I'm hoping it will be my new home.

My profile is now updated with more personal details. I don't want to do or just via my website. Feel free to ask/tag me especially in case you see an iffy picture or video.

Note that my website doesn't have ads or tracking. https://hoaxeye.com/

: "Community Notes’ value to Musk wasn’t just in its potential utility for inviting advertisers concerned about (in)accurate information on Twitter, but in its ability to cut costs: an entirely volunteer-run army of amateur fact-checkers to replace the paid content moderators to whom he’d shown the door. The Chief Twit’s controversial moves here didn’t sit well with many longtime Birdwatchers, who complained to the Post that “we don’t have a moderator anymore.” A college student involved with the Birdwatch Discord from jump mentioned that “it feels like the entirety of the Twitter misinformation system is now reliant on Birdwatch. Birdwatch is important but shouldn’t be the adjudicator of facts.”"

Once again, a tech "journalist" fails basic fact-checking:

https://www.forbes.com/sites/michaeldelcastillo/2022/09/11/jack-dorseys-former-boss-is-building-a-decentralized-twitter/

"...the Indymedia project, a publishing platform that let activists organize and monitor police activity."

Nope. It was neither of these, but rather for posting protest news.

"By the 2004 U.S. presidential election, the platform had grown to 175 collectives around the world and hosted 40,000 messages."

One "platform" (website) per collective. Articles, not messages.

Where to start with this failure of basic fact-checking:

https://token-information.com/the-gnu-thaler-digital-cash-without-blockchain/

First the persistent misspelling of Taler as "Thaler".

> GNU sounds like an African animal

It is, sometimes known as a wildebeest.

> But it is digital money

Nope. It's a currency-agnostic digital payment system.
