Having a late night meal of the two entrees from my Humanitarian Daily Ration. I'm eating nothing but HDRs, an aid ration specifically made for the US government for aid work to starving people and which can be airdropped without lethal parachutes and pallets. A Palestinian in Gaza receiving one of these bags every day would not starve to death. I know, because I, a 300 pound man, have not starved to death.
A C-130 aircraft can carry between 17,000 and 18,000 HDRs, so ~17 C-130 flights a day would deliver enough calories to feed the north. Again, we have 600 planes and we can't spare 8-9 to do two runs a day?
I guess we're too busy filling them with mk82 and mk84 bombs to deliver to Israel. For bombs, we make the room. For food, not so much.
On Wednesday, repression against #FoodNotBombs in #Houston escalated, after police arrested two people, brutalizing and tasing an African-American volunteer during a Food Not Bombs meal sharing.
Houston FNB has received over 80 tickets - yet still continues to feed the community. This repression has resulted in numerous arrests and thousands in fines.
The arrests stem from a 2012 "city ordinance [which] prohibits people from feeding more than five people on public or private property unless permission is given by property owners." Apparently we need permission from the rich to share food outside without spending money now.
Please support them and other autonomous mutual aid programs. Cities across the US are trying to sweep away the poor from major cities as rising rents and gentrification push out workers. Capitalist media then blames shuttering businesses on houseless encampments and "retail crime," as conditions get worse.
Mutual aid offers a lifeline to folks but also a forum to gather and discuss pushing back.
Today people around the world are saying NO to business as usual with a global strike for Palestine! We'll be making space at Firestorm for folks to gather throughout the day with free coffee and tea plus solidarity activities. Join friends and neighbors from 4pm to 6pm for ceasefire postcard and letter writing. Then at 6pm, we'll be screening "Gaza Fights for Freedom," a 2019 documentary filmed during the height of the Great March Of Return, which tells the story of Gaza past and present with rare archival footage.
@ncrav why are all #USA citizens forced to pay into #genocide via taxes? This is insanity. We are being forced to contribute to war crimes, murder, crimes against humanity. We cannot fund genocide! We demand permanent #ceasefirenow USA fund #foodnotbombs

#FoodNotBombs in #WestPalmBeach, #Florida hit the streets to protest ongoing repression against their mutual aid group after a new ordinance was passed that makes sharing food with a group larger than 25 without a permit a crime that can land you in jail for two months and a $500 fine.
Last Monday, @foodwpb & community partners protested the City Commission’s ongoing repression against sharing food and the 7 citations issued so far @fau_sol@palmbeachdsa@greenbackdistro
My name is Bea and I’m a front-end software engineer with a strong passion for #accessibility. You’ll see posts of my senior cat, Artemis, during #caturday. He is the sweetest orange tabby. I’m currently studying #herbalism with a focus on serving BIPOC folks and anti-colonialism.
@foodwpb has been issued three citations for distributing food at their weekly food share along with independent journalist of WPB Government Watch.
Demand a STOP! By calling their hotline and leaving a voicemail message (561) 822-1390
“A disgrace to our First Amendment rights and a blatant act of cruelty” said one before vowing to fight the charges. @foodwpb has been sharing food for 16 years as direct action against war, imperialism, and capitalism.
The ordinance with which they’re being cited requires permits for events that feed 25+ people and only allows two permits per year per location. While Food Not Bombs universally stands against permits, this particular ordinance is designed to make compliance impossible and force the group to shut down.
However the community is fighting back! Students, community gardens, other Food Not Bombs chapters, journalists, socialists, and anarchists have rallied behind these food shares since the police began their campaign of harassment five months ago. Police will not be able to shut these food shares down.
There are five Food Not Bombs chapters being criminalized for sharing food in the so-called United States @memphisfoodnotbombs and Food Not Bombs Las Vegas, Houston and Aberdeen. As always, mutual aid continues unabated.
Join @foodwpb food shares every Saturday at 4:30pm! Call WPB Government and demand a stop to these unconstitutional citations before a federal lawsuit costs the city!
#FoodNotBombs volunteer in #Houston, #Texas has been found "not guilty" by a jury after the group received various tickets for feeding the houseless in front of the town's library.
Thanks. But the Memphis instagram post was about a similar incident in Memphis -- EXCEPT that the Memphis government apologized, rather than prosecuting.
@palmbeachdsa happy to see y’all supporting this! They need all the help they can get with the city trying to use permits to eradicate food sharing in Palm Beach! Everyone that can show up at 4:30pm
Anarchists and socialists face repression even for just sharing food but that has never stopped Food Not Bombs before nor shall it now! If you can’t make it in perso, help with the phone zap in photos!
Co-founder of “Food Not Bombs” Global, Arrested today
"Keith McHenry, the co-founder of the global movement “Food Not Bombs” was arrested and jailed by the Santa Cruz Police Department today for the crime of serving food to the unhoused community members. Approximately 10 officers of the Santa Cruz Police Department arrested Keith at approximately 10:00 am today, December 27, 2022, in River Street Parking Garage #10, 24 River Street, as he was setting up tables to serve a meal out of the intense rain.
This egregious treatment of this community hero comes just two days after Food Not Bombs served a free Christmas feast to over 500 unhoused persons in downtown Santa Cruz. Keith is being held at Santa Cruz County Jail facing two misdemeanor charges of blocking a parking space and loitering in a parking garage. The police also confiscated some equipment belonging to Food Not Bombs including tables, cups for coffee and sugar."
"When a billion people go hungry each day, how can we spend another dollar on war? Food Not Bombs is an all-volunteer movement that recovers food that would otherwise be discarded, and shares free vegan and vegetarian meals with the hungry in over 1,000 cities in 65 countries in protest to war, poverty, and destruction of the environment. We are not a charity but dedicated to taking nonviolent direct action. Our movement has no headquarters or positions of leadership and we use the process of consensus to make decisions. We also provide food and supplies to the survivors of natural disasters, and people participating in occupations, strikes, marches and other protests."
#FoodNotBombs Protests Attempts to Criminalize Mutual Aid and the Sharing of Free Food
"On the 18th of September, activists furious about repeated ticketing of Food Not Bombs food share by West Palm Beach police gathered at City Hall, then marched through a commercial district.
These tickets carry fines of up to a $500 fine and 60 days in jail. This is an act of war on unhoused people, and an act of war on the entire activist community. Feeding unhoused people in an environment where business owners are trying to turn cities into shopping malls where anyone not making or spending money is considered a trespasser is a political attack."
