Scarborough & Brzezinski re #NBCUniversal’s hire of fmr #RNC chair #RonnaMcDaniel as a paid contributor.
“We weren’t asked…but, if we were, we would have strongly objected to it for several reasons,” Scarborough said.
“We hope #NBC will reconsider its decision…she will not be a guest on ‘MorningJoe’….” Brzezinski added.
They then played a reel of McDaniel’s many comments questioning the 2020election.

3 important nuances you won't read in headlines or hysterical reactions from Conservatives.

  1. The judge said he would have supported invoking had he been sitting at the cabinet table.
With the information they had at the time, Cabinet did the right thing.

  2. It's only with the benefit of hindsight, which the federal cabinet did not have, that the judge determines they erred.

  3. Invoking the Act in & was proper. He merely disputes invoking it nation-wide.

I suspect many Canadians feel the same...

"Invoking the Emergencies Act would not have been necessary in Feb. 2022 had Police & the government taken action to prevent a foreign funded Far Right mob from occupying & terrifying Ottawa.
The mob waved Nazi flags, harassed residents, & advocated revolution."

CanadianCrone,

@gemelliz @GeoffyPJohnston Exactly. I doubt any Ottawa resident considered it unconstitutional & unreasonable. Even having deliver timbits didn’t soften their stance. Even the majority of Canadians, agreeing with the vaccine mandate, didn’t soften their stance. Hot tubs, booze, honking, disruption, those were the weapons they used. And our merrily trots along, parroting whatever blather. Offering no advocacy for citizens impacted by the convoy

Nothing says “I value your vote better” than presuming to to readers what is going to motivate us as Canadians to vote in the next election. It certainly won’t be our ability to reason and discriminate and use our intelligence to gather facts before we form an opinion. has it all figured out. Corporate has lost legitimacy.

Headline states: “Alex Jones offers to pay $55 million ….” It implies Alex is being “fair” and “sincere” when in fact, he’s the same slanderous slob he’s always been. The headline should read: Alex Jones was ordered to pay $1 Billion for his false & cruel claims that Sandy Hook was staged & parents were “crisis actors”. But he’s trying to weasel his way out.

The Washington Post's Jennifer Rubin just said (on Threads) that last night's results show that 90% of political reporting is garbage.

That's because 90% of "coverage" is speculation and opinion. An email from the NYT "The Tilt" assured me that it was a good night for Democrats but that doesn't mean anything for 2024.

Rubbish.

Elections tell us how voters feel. Polls do not and pundits do not.

Dear journalists: Please please please do not simply quote team Trump's latest lies -- in this case, the fantasy that the latest indictment is a "free speech" issue -- as one side of a dispute.

What will it take for Big Journalism to realize that our democracy is in serious jeopardy? What will it take for the craft to stand up in support of democracy?

At this point it's fair to worry that nothing will get journalists to move very far away from business as usual -- even with so much at stake.
