Usually I spot the first Red Eft (Eastern Newt) of the year on a hike, this one's in our front yard. Looks like it's leaving juvenile stage, hope it finds our pond around back.
Any excursion inland before the oaks leaf out reminds me of the time a work visitor from the city arrived forlornly asking “what is this disease killing the trees?”
We were completely confused until she explained further. It was the lichen. She had never seen lichen on trees. Usnea drapes abundantly on the oaks and firs in our clean air. #LichenSubscribe #Mendocino
There is a local bridge with a view to a photogenic river & mountains. I have so many photos of the view I decided to pay some attention to the bridge itself. It was a good decision.
Reminded me of those talking tubes that I associate with science museums & play parks.
