Kennt jemand das #CustomROM#LMODroid bzw #LibreMobileOS?
Anscheinend basiert das auf #LineageOS und bietet Updates für Geräte, welche bei LOS gar nicht mehr gelistet sind.
Hat das jemand in Verwendung oder kann mehr dazu sagen?
I just updated my old (backup) OnePlus 5 from Android 13 (Lineage 20) to Android 14 (Lineage 21). Everything went smoothly. Nice work, #lineageos developers!
Then I opened an app and discover Ingress no longer works. Not the fault of Lineage, just Niantic being Niantic.

In den Einstellungen des Netzwerks (unser Wlan) ist "automatische Verbindung" aktiviert, in den allgemeinen Netzwerkeinstellungen lässt sich "WLAN automatisch aktivieren" jedoch nicht einstellen, es ist "nicht verfügbar, weil die Einstellung Standort deaktiviert ist. Aktiviere die Einstellung Standort."
"Auf Wunsch lässt sich WLAN automatisch aktivieren, sobald wird in Reichweite des Routers kommen. Das ganze funktioniert aber nicht durch das Scannen nach WLAN-Netzwerken, sondern über die Standortdienste. Für jede WLAN-Verbindung wird auch der dazugehörige Standort gespeichert. Befinden wir uns im Radius eines Standortes, wird WLAN automatisch aktiviert, sofern die Signalstärke des WLANs ausreichend ist.

Gibt es da wirklich keine Option, sich automatisch mit seinem WLAN zu verbinden, ohne die Standortdienste zu aktivieren? (die ich aus #Privacy -Gründen möglichst nicht aktivieren möchte und ansonsten auch nicht brauche)
I've wondered for years why I couldn't send emoji in text messages (MMS).
Quite by accident, I've discovered that, all this time, I could. All I had to do was press, and hold, the enter button on the AOSP keyboard. This raises the emoji selector.
I've been meaning to cut down my power usage without disrupting my lifestyle too much, the first thought is for me to "decommission" my HTPC which I keep running all day, asleep at best, just so it's ready for me when I want to sleep and need it to watch #YouTube (so I can get to sleep lol).
The "easiest" replacement is get an #ARM based computer to take over its job. My first thought it should run on #Linux just bcos I'm most familiar with it and it's an open ecosystem so I should be able to do a ton of things w it - but I only have a Pi 4 and that thing honestly sucks at streaming so nope. Tried #LineageOS on it to get it running #Android TV and while at first it seemed great, it ended up being quite a hassle and a mess so I ditched that.
Then my dad asked me to get an Android TV box/stick for his TV, and I got him the #Xiaomi Mi Box S (2nd gen). After I set it up and used it for a bit, I honestly kinda liked it. Tried #Plex, #Netflix, #PrimeVideo, etc. and they all ran great. The only downside I thought to this option is that I won't be able to watch YouTube with adblockers like I could with something like #Firefox on a desktop.
THEN I quickly discovered the existence of #SmartTube and GOD what a lifesaver it's been. It works just like the official YouTube client with all the pages and algos you're familiar with when you've authenticated, it blocks YouTube ads, but also it supports #SponsorBlock right out of the box without needing to self-host or wtv so it could even block sponsor segments in video if you want. Even has some nice accessibility options too like changing the subtitle colours, size, and positioning which is great for me who watches vids in bed w no audio.
This rant ended up being very long unnecessarily lol but all in all, that removed the only dealbreaker for me on getting and using said TV box for myself - so I did and have been using for abt a week now. The box turns itself and my TV off automatically after 30 mins of inactivity and I can easily turn the box and the TV back on using just my remote which is nice. Idek what'd I need the HTPC for anymore honestly since I already have a #SteamDeck to take over its job gaming wise much, much earlier.
We already knew that the $199 Rabbit R1 had the specs of a budget Android smartphone and ran a basic version of Android (with a custom Launcher that mostly interacts with Rabbit's cloud services). I'm sad, my phone isn't supported anymore by #LineageOs, it's a #OnePlus3T 2016. The provided drivers for Linux are for 3.8 kernels and Lineage 19 only support > 4.x branch. I'm using the #MicroG build, I have just seen that even the archives has been dropped. I might build 18.1 my self to update, the other solution is to used /E/ which have community build for this device. Anyway we really need to force manufacturer to release sources and documentation for hardware ...
i am using #Osmand for #navigation. the #f-droid version. i was so lucky with it, a long while it ran great on my old #samsung#galaxy#s5 on #lineageOS but now the crashes are back and its unusable again which it was several (partly very long) periods in the past. i don't know what they are doing that its such a pain in the ass; maybe they have problems to do a good memory management. i am very sad, because i love that app and its plugins. it nearly is able to do everything you would like to do with such an app. when it runs. now i'll try it with #organicmaps. seems to be spartan but stable. and it has no trackers. if you have any further ideas, you are welcome.
[#android] I was looking for a way to sandbox a proprietary app on Android/LineageOS, and prevent it from running when I'm not actively using it. I found this one: Shelter https://f-droid.org/en/packages/net.typeblog.shelter/ It abuses Work Profiles to stash the designated apps and run them only when desired. Nice when #GrapheneOS is not an option
OK, have to admit, switching to nationwide is quite a bit more hassle than switching to other banks.
I have modified the CSS for online banking with nationwide to make it better on my poor eyes. And yes, the look of the site is also how it looks behind the scenes. The code is a disaster.
Logging in is SO much simpler than Halifax, and the phone app is awesome and not randomly blocked because of #lineageos. Really liking it so far.
Giving #LineageOS a shot on my old Pixel 4. Hoping to see how much of my life I can replicate on FOSS software. There will be work-related stuff that won't move over, but so far, I've got the basics covered.

Android-Geräte enthalten oft sehr viele Apps, die sich weder deinstallieren noch deaktivieren lassen. Debloater-Software kann den Weg aus der "Bloatware-Hölle" erleichtern.

Sowohl #LineageOS als auch #eOS u.a. haben inzwischen auch ihr eigenes Custom Recovery , was zT nicht so viel kann wie TWRP, aber wohl stabiler funktioniert.
Der #UbuntuTouch -Installer ist tatsächlich eigentlich die einfachste Variante der Installation.
Wenn das Problem aber beim Koppeln liegt, könntest Du noch probieren: 1. anderes Kabel, andere USB-Buchse 2. nicht über den Terminal-Befehl ins fastboot bzw. Recovery booten (funktioniert nach meiner Erfahrung fast nie), sondern über die (gerätespezifsche) Tastenkombination (meist Leiser/Lauter + Power) @gnulinux

I was also considering mobile Linux, though I do really depend on Discord notifications due to my university; unsure how well that would work...
I've been unsure about installing proprietary, tracker-filled banking apps and the like on my #LineageOS#mobile.
I've decided the most practical compromise is to just throw them all into the work profile using the #Shelter app, where there are no contacts or personal files. If an app isn't being used, I also freeze it.
It's working well, though the process has changed/reverted some of the settings in my main profile, such as tap to wake and notification sounds. Anyone else experienced this?
📲 Welches Custom ROM (mit MicroG) für das Pixel 5?
Ich soll für jemanden ein Pixel 5 flashen und einrichten. Die Person hat bislang ein anderes Gerät mit #eOS genutzt und eigentlich ist der Auftrag, auch auf dem Pixel /e/OS zu installieren.
Ich habe nun aber gesehen, dass das Pixel dafür einen Downgrade von Android 14 auf Android 13 braucht, daher bin ich nun am Überlegen, ob ich nicht doch ein anderes #CustomROM empfehlen soll.
Für das Pixel 5 kämen infrage: #LineageOS 21 (Android 14) #DivestOS 20.0 (Android 13)

Da nur LineageOS und CalyxOS Android 14 für das Pixel 5 anbieten, tendiere ich momentan zu CalyxOS (mit dem ich aber noch keine Erfahrung habe).
Für mich persönlich würde ich ja DivestOS nehmen, aber das wäre doch vielleicht noch etwas weiter von eOS weg (und unterstützt #microG nicht bzw. nur über Umwege). Es sollen auch einige Apps über Aurora installiert werden, die wohl bislang mit MicroG auf eOS gut laufen.
Einen besonders hohen Sicherheitsanspruch gibt es in dem Fall nicht; es soll auch kein Banking und keine Zahlungsdienste o.ä. drauf laufen (nur bspw. einige Spiele, die wohl microG erfordern)
Hat jemand von Euch Erfahrung sowohl mit eOS als auch mit CalyxOS und kann von den Unterschieden aus User-Perspektive berichten?
Kann man irgendeine Prognose treffen, welches ROM das Pixel 5 mehr oder weniger lang unterstützen wird?
@tsterbak ja, das ginge auch. Aber die anderen haben noch ein paar mehr #Privacy -Features eingebaut, daher würde ich das eher bevorzugen.
Und bei #CalyxOs und #iodeOS kann man mW wählen, ob es mit oder ohne #MicroG installiert werden soll.
Meinst Du die (vermutete) Dauer, wie lange es unterstützt wird, spricht eher für #LineageOS ?
