Thanks for your answers everyone. Looks like linen and casein might be the front-runner for now. I’m going to give it a go. It will be a conversation point when people ask me why my bike smells like rotten milk.

Thanks @amcewen

Does anybody know if there’s a traditional composite material that behaves something like fibreglass? As in fibre/fabric laid up in a binder of some sort to make a stiff material in arbitrary forms.

Paper mache is one but it’s too weak (I think, maybe there's a super version?). I'm considering things like cotton or flax in casein glue or pine resin... but I doubt it will work.

(And my last casein glue experiment stunk like rotten milk for weeks!)

I should clarify, the point is to be biodegradable, I already know I can mix epoxies with flax fibre for a pretty strong composite, for example. But epoxies aren't biodegradble.

Was brächte das? Vermutlich eine ganze Menge. Das Thema ist erstaunlich tief: 1/x

Somehow every high-tech solution feels like someone has a 'just make it bigger' button on their desk.

Webpage slow? Faster internet & servers!
Big car not going far enough? Bigger car!
Game stuttery? More computing power!

All of these are the most expensive, inefficient solution. And yet that's what we came to accept as the cost of progress. How?

Today Watt-Wise Game Jam begins! The theme is "Breaking and Re-Making". The jam aims to examine what games may look like when power consumption is minimal, with power usage being one of the scoring categories. We've also got some tools to help with that. les Zami.es et non moins Camarades !

Speaking of hair removal, for my shaving I've been using this Merkur (34C I think) safety razor for years and it's not likely to quit on me. There was a learning curve, but not a big one. The result is quite good.

The titanium coated blades last me many months each and produce minimal waste with no plastic.

I also tested an open razor, but found I can't trust myself waving that around in my face before morning coffee.
