SSH protects the world’s most sensitive networks. It just got a lot weaker
Sometime around the start of 1995, an unknown person planted a password sniffer on the network backbone of Finland’s Helsinki University of Technology (now known as Aalto University). Once in place, this piece of dedicated hardware surreptitiously inhaled thousands of user names and passwords before it was finally discovered. https://www.fischerman.ch/?p=532744 #Advisory#Linux#Networking#OnlineSecurityHistory
When you're using a Radio Shack part for a project and want to get more... 😥 Wondering if anyone sells a modern version of this keystone jack: It's got little notches for these little plastic caps which cover the port.
You can get little fake RJ-45 filler plugs but they don't create as clean of a look.
@technotim is back with @adam to discuss the state of homelab in 2024 🧑🔬
They discuss homelab environments providing a safe place for experimentation and learning, network improvement as a gateway to homelab, trends in network connection speeds, to Unifi or not, storage trends, ZFS configurations, TrueNAS, cameras, home automation, connectivity, routers, pfSense, and more.
@miyuru@paoloredaelli and of course support tickets can't be raised without spending $20 quid a month, minimum so it's out of reach for a hobby. Given it's probably impractical to run an IPv6-only server right now, stuck paying the $4/mnth fine :(
One of the greatest joys in life is waking up to new hardware deliveries, particularly when they have an aesthetically pleasing industrial design. Even better when the hardware uses FreeBSD!
Also, yes these are pink pajamas with pink and red hearts, because what would my world be without everyday expressions of love and affection for the hours spent alive, breathing, feeling, and appreciating the gift of post-coma consciousness. 💖
does anyone know of any good sources for Linux dev’s with a networking background trying to understand the internals from layer 1 & 2 apart from bashing my head against RFC’s and Wikipedia?
i realised i barely have any understanding what happens from ethernet downwards or what the fuck a PHY actually is
