After all these years and recent new like the or this litte embedded powered device is still the winner in comparison for me. Battery lasts more than twice as the other two, lighter, better to type on, faster in terms of real world usage b/c of bloated linux these days...
Thanks a lot @DragonBox for the awesome !

Power rail probes are a handy accessory, because they let you apply a voltage offset before the signal hits the scope. This allows you to look at ripple on low-impedance, highish-voltage power rails.

Commercial versions are expensive (https://www.keysight.com/us/en/product/N7020A/power-rail-probe-2-ghz.html). It turns out they're not wildly complicated, so here's an version.

Naming things is difficult, so I called it 'power rail probe'. Lots still to do: feedback welcome.

Are there many kits for cheap or is there only the Crazyflie?

My hope is to have some indoor fun and be able to do some on a small swarm.

For testing purposes a full 450 sized drone would be too much. (I think)

Please join me in welcoming @robin1337 to the Fediverse! He does electronics projects. If you follow that particular topic, you may know his Pixel Pump https://shop.robins-tools.com/products/Pixel-Pump-Starter-Kit-p557295475

@claudius I like the addition of the instance list! It's a great resource for people just joining or moving instances.

A couple more possibilities:

@davedarko
@helenleigh
@jaseg
@bornach
@TreasureDev

Companies/Projects:

Another open science hardware project that needs support on Experiment.com (I'm an open hardware advisor on this one). It is an attachment that adds depth sensing to camera traps to help better estimate wildlife populations.

Is there an project for an emergency button that when pressed sends out messages via various channels (e.g. SMS, MQTT, Email, LoRa, etc.)? Sounds like a project for a Lilygo T-Beam. It should just be that: Hit the button, messages get sent to predefined targets.

I found this @conservancy talk from Kyle Rankin made a lot of very good points: "Free Software Policy With Semi-Firm Firmware"

A few days ago I got the and I've been loving it! Only thing this needs is the ability to talk with a companion app for notification syncing and it would be perfect!

For some reason I cannot really point to, I like the Mini Machine by Zerocat. An OpenHardware project to create a

Zerocat hat geschrieben:

trustworthy, lean, laptop-alike mini machine of a free-design, even down to chip level, easily inspectable, verifyable

and currently exists as a prototype. On the one hand it looks like fallen out of our time, on the other hand I like the simplicity of the design.

Am I missing something, or is there not really a lot of "ready to modify and fab" serial port adapters?

I'm looking at remaking something similar to the CH340G I already have but with a couple of extra switches to disable LEDs (they're annoying after you confirmed everything is working) and voltage selection, plus full RTS/CTS support.

I guess the best I can find is sparkfun's https://github.com/sparkfun/Serial_Basic_Breakout-CH340G

I guess I can try this one.

A RISC-V chip with with secret RTL (not to mention the layout) does not qualify as open-hardware. Otherwise MS Word would be open-source software just because it implements the Open Document Format (ODF).
