Though not serving as Trump’s attorney when he appeared as a witness today in Trump’s trial for criminally falsifying business records, Robert Costello is a lawyer, bound by New York’s Rules of Professional Conduct. Costello repeatedly showed his ethical unfitness, violating the most basic principles that inform the entire code. I’ve screenshot the very first paragraph of the entire code, highlighting the most pertinent phrases. 1/ #LawFedi#Ethics#LegalEthics
"Contrary to the FAKE NEWS MEDIA, I don’t fall asleep during the Crooked D.A.’s Witch Hunt, especially not today. I simply close my beautiful blue eyes, sometimes, listen intensely, and take it ALL in!!!"
Our corrupt Supreme Court is NOT going to rule during the current term that presidents have immunity from prosecution for crimes committed while in office. It will send Trump's case back to the lower court in a way that ensures he isn't prosecuted before the election.
@dangillmor Then it's good that the NY DA is nailing him for his crimes before he was elected. Based on NY laws. Yes, at some point Donald's paid for buddies at the SCOTUS might get to rule on these laws and/or on the verdict, but all the polls suggest that any verdict will ruin it for #P01135809 in the swing states.
"The process, they believe, is its own punishment."
🤷
Being a defendant is a burden. Funny how they notice only the billionaire is hit.
But that's how the justice system works. Defending yourself is risky, expensive, burdensome. Read it up, DA all over the US have used this to make offers that many defendants simply cannot refuse.
But hey, '16-20 a certain DJT had the opportunity to work on justice reforms to make the system more just and humane.
@gbhnews virtual millions. #P01135809 is not allowed to sell for 6 months. Who knows where a business that is losing money faster than having any revenue will be, stock-price wise, in half a year?
If the NY court doesn't order the sale of Trump properties to come up with the money for the bond he is REQUIRED to post during appeals, it will be simply the latest example of the criminal-in-chief's ability to evade accountability.
According to the Forbes estimates, he's worth $2.6b. Much of that in real estate, which is challenging to sell.
With a fire sale, that might liquidate to $500m or not.
(E.g. Benko bankruptcy that is heavy on "premium" commercial estate is estimated in an absolute best case at a 30% payout after 5 years slow sellout. Or below 10% for a fire sale.)
They despised “low-energy” Secretary Clinton, so they are gonna get “high-energy” Biden.
Who am I kidding, these turds are gonna whine about him no matter what. I can’t stop hammering the point that Biden and Senators once tried to give them everything they wanted on the border, but they rejected it because Inmate #P01135809 said to.
Yeah. Biden and the Democrats were literally proposing to close the border to asylum seekers completely until requests go down to get Ukraine aid, which is extreme to me but it was pretty much what Repubs were harping for for months.
To go and kiss Inmate #P01135809’s feet now is clear evidence they’re not even trying to solve the problem they were drumming up a storm for, and Biden is more serious about the border than Inmate #P01135809.
@Teri_Kanefield Basically, yes, there are consequences, and for a billionaire level defendant surprising many.
But for many normal people, these consequences simply do not line up with what they would experience (and what they know from themselves, family or acquaintances) for simple "law breaking" like a DUI, with what they have seen is happening to #P01135809 Donald Trump.
Or put differently, what would happen to normal citizens that threaten SCOTUS justices? That regularly threaten riots?
