Just returned from our first long-ish roadtrip (520 km) with the kids, which was also my first long drive in a Tesla, even though I got my first one four years ago. We had another wonderful holiday day today. Before sharing about it, I will first give you some context.
This short holiday was very badly planned. One day in December I decided that we would go away for a few days over the Christmas-New Year break. Everyone in Australia and Nee Zealand would gasp at the audacity of the idea. That is waaaaay too late to book anything!
But I turned my tardiness into a virtue and explained to my husband that we were going to have a very cheap holiday using old-stylencountry motels. Think of the motel in Schitts Creek and you have the picture.
My husband liked the idea of not spending much money on out holiday and I booked the accommodation on the 22nd December. Booking this late means only a few rooms at cheap hotels are available - anything more fancy has been booked months ago.
There was not much traffic on the road at all. We were travelling at 100kms per hour and could see no traffic at all when our car announced "traffic jam ahead".
Our car has a feature that tells you when there is a traffic jam ahead, but we have had it for at least 7 years and not once has it successfully predicted a traffic jam. The only time it makes such a pronouncement is when there is no sign of a traffic jam and we don't even have to slow down.
On trips in flat farming country, one exercises a lot of thought about such trivial things and so we talked about it for about 10 minutes, discussing the car's track record on traffic jams.
Then we lapsed into silence again as we ate up the kilometres. This is how we travel on #RoadTrips in #Australia.
