Today is the 80th anniversary of the D-Day landing at #Normandy, #France, where ~160k #Allied troops pulled off the largest invasion by sea in history. From that point on #America was in charge of #AlliedForces & it was the beginning of the end of #WWII
When you travel to that battlefield & visit other #WWII memorials & cemeteries in #Europe you will see what great care is taken to ensure the memories of those #sacrifices are honored w/daily maintenance & #respect. This is likely the last big #DDay celebration featuring WWII #veterans who are almost all centenarians…. Some are traveling to the ceremonies & will be honored by all the dignitaries like #POTUS Joe #Biden, British PM Rishi #Sunak, Canadian PM #Trudeau & #KingCharlesII of Britain.
‘Yet again #Sunak had proved himself to be the politician who can’t do politics. By telling one of the most egregious lies in any election live on TV, he has made himself vulnerable for the remaining four weeks of the campaign. The first question will always be: “Are you a liar?”
To which the only answer is yes. His honesty is now up for grabs. His reputation little better than Boris Johnson’s.’
Future Labour govt’s greatest source of weakness is its leader
Since election as leader, Starmer has proven to have a dishonesty almost unrivalled in modern politics. Never forget the almost immediate reneging on campaign pledges or denial of his comments in support of the Israeli government’s right to cut power & aid for Gaza
“A claim that nearly half of private school pupils would leave the sector if a Labour government levied 20 per cent VAT on their fees is “too high” and “not statistically representative”, the consultants behind the study it was based on have said”
‘The Conservatives are keen to stress that the cost calculations have been done by civil servants, with ministers even describing it as an "official Treasury analysis".
But the assumptions on which the calculations are based have been made by special advisers, who are temporary civil servants and are political appointees. They are not expected to be impartial in the way that regular civil servants are.’
Farage's decision could divert key votes away from Prime Minister Rishi #Sunak's embattled #Tories in numerous seats, and could help the #Labour opposition seize power for the first time since 2010.
A poll suggests a #Labour landslide outstripping the 1997 Blair victory.

Imagine reading the latest poll saying your party is going to be savagely hacked down from being the governing party to just having 66 seats…and then you hear #Farage is back in town. He’s not only running as a candidate to be MP, he’s leading the #Reform party.
I think we can now safely assume #Sunak has got those plane tickets back to California booked.
The Israeli regime army issued a statement this evening (Wednesday) claiming that it has gained operational control over the axis known as "Philadelphia" on the border lines of occupied Palestine and #Egypt.
Remember the BS talks by Al-Sisi, #Biden, #Sunak, #Macron and other assholes about the red lines in Rafah?
None of them lifting a finger about the slaughter of the innocent Palestinians who are stuck in #Rafah with no where to go.
Ministers critiquing the back of the envelope policies of their PM, taking their holidays during the election campaign, MPs throwing in the towel and backing Reform candidates, a peer and former minister claiming the PM will be off to California in a few weeks…
Kind of gives the impression that #Sunak’s own party loathe him and can’t wait to see him gone, no?
I guess he thought setting the date for an election was kind of like planning a suprise birthday for someone…he thought he was doing his party a nice favour, but he kept everyone in the dark because he doesn’t trust anyone and consequently has few political friends…so no one is quite sure who the suprise party/election is for…other than for #Sunak…and hang on, who plans their own suprise birthday party?
