I'm trying out ProtonMail!

The price is super reasonable, and I'm happy to pay rather than be surveiled.

Migrating my emails from gmail and configuring my custom domain was easy.

I missed having separate sections for unread and read emails, so I wrote a tampermonkey script to add that! It's available at https://codeberg.org/danvolchek/browser-scripts 😎

Next up is importing my calendar!

a while i go i asked why video controls looked so terrible in mastodon, and it turned out it was my "Video Speed Controller" plugin, which looks great everywhere EXCEPT mastodon. 🤷‍♀️

So, since i was already fixing things with I figured I'd fix this too.

If any other people are using this plugin & want the fix, just holler. ;)

Anyone know a more private way of using whatsapp.

The default whatsapp has inbuilt trackers and requires a lot of permissions. (google analytics)

Any way to run maybe whatsapp web in the browser (maybe using tampermonkey)?

I heard that the tools to delete all your Tweets don't work anymore. This script allows you to delete them anyways: https://gist.github.com/lucahammer/1aa16b4d3c1fb04035839da5ef699d65

  • may view it as a violation of their terms (automation) and ban your account. Use at your own risk.
  • At least in the EU you have a right to delete your own data which overrules any company terms.
  • This only removes them from your profile, Tweets may still exist in backups and other places.

I wasn't able to get the script to run unsupervised. After some time the timeline stays empty and you have to manually reload the page and run the script again. Currently, I am testing it with a 15 year old account with 19 k Tweets. I had to reload every 500 Tweets on average. After adjusting the script to not hit the rate-limit (50 requests per minute), it should run with less interruptions. But the Xcorp infrastructure is unreliable.

Figured out a way to make by @rolle compatible on on for any instance!

Instructions:

  1. Install the approved extension from the Firefox addon menu.
  2. Add the extension from here https://greasyfork.org/en/scripts/470753-mastodon-birdui-style-override

There may be better ways to do this but it seems to work fine. Let me know if I messed something up... 😅

Otherwise, I am going to use to intercept the HTML and just delete the logo and replace it with the default one on every reload
