For years Tetris players have adopted a multitude of techniques to win at the famous and addictive Nintendo game. In December, a 13-year-old player called Willis Gibson, also known as "blue scuti" in the gaming world, declared victory over the once "unbeatable" game by breaking it. AP's David Hamilton explains why this is a huge victory.
Great video detailing what was required for BlueScuti’s incredible world-first achievement of a true kill screen in NES #tetris, how we got here, and where the competitive scene may go next. It’s amazing to see a 13 year old building on decades of #retrogaming achievement and breaking new ground. https://youtu.be/GuJ5UuknsHU?si=7v9xTSw2batU_EQZ
As a dad gamer who actively encourages both his boys (including one just a year older than this hero) to keep on playing, this Sky News anchor mother can go fuck herself.
What a stupid thing to say.
You keep on playing champ, we’re all proud of you.
Un niño de apenas 13 años venció a #Tetris de #NES y hay un video con semejante hazaña; nadie lo había hecho en tres décadas :3. http://tinyurl.com/3dxz7twp
It's about how a teenage achieved the impossible in an arcade game nearly three times older than him, about how communities support learning, and about why I'm optimistic about human flourishing in the digital age
There are rotations, horizontal translations, and a vertical drop, but they don't form a group. The "do nothing" transformation can't fight the relentless downward gravity. Do we need General Relativity with a singularity at the bottom to describe it?
@BartoszMilewski I think kicks complicate things quite a bit, and there are rotation systems that allow for "upward" kicks that, IIRC, can "defeat" gravity. #tetris#srs
