I respect Anarchists, Communists, Socialists, Libertarians and Jehovas Witnesses for their commitment to their dogma and can find a lot of good in what the four political theories above have to bring to bear even if I am never going to be one.
What does Atheism have in common w political philosophies?
Do you want to be right or do you want to make society better? Not everyone is a movement is the same but the majority per my perception (1/2)
Thats just fucking hubris. It's exhibit A of why would anyone not a dick be an atheist. Most non dicks I know say they are agnostics even though they are atheists cause they dont wanna stand with dicks
The safest, richest, most stable, freest, and, by many counts, most moral countries in the world are secular, have a large percentage of their population not believing in God. One cavate they aren't forced into disbelief as in being communistic or capitalist as in USSR, Albania, Egypt, Turkey, etc
I get kind of worked up about attempts to rob young people of the few interesting things that we really know about nature and the universe. This anti-evolution content is designed as a kind of inoculation against gaining further knowledge on the topic.
It contains neat little counter arguments that prompt kids to stop listening before they hear anything really interesting.
"[Darwin] avoided discussing his views on religion in public, but his private writings (from the Beagle era onwards) show that he was increasingly critical of theology and Biblical literalism, and had many doubts about God, including concerns about the problem of evil. In a letter of 1879, he described himself as an #agnostic rather than an atheist, but stated that belief in evolution is not incompatible with #theism."

It is not generally known that Cecilia Payne was precocious even as a child in church primary school in England. There she developed a protocol for testing the efficacy of prayer by dividing her exams into two groups: one group prayed for success on exams, the other did not. Because she got better marks in the group without intercessory prayer, Payne was #agnostic thereafter. She was probably not the first to make such an experiment, but she was definitely not the last. #astronomy et al.
