An unusual pink-flowered Common Rock-rose (Helianthemum nummularium) growing on Solsbury Hill near . Flowers of this species are normally yellow. Potentially an escape, but given the location this would be unlikely.

Today we travelled to the , which is just over an hour away by train, making it suitable for a day trip. We cycled to our and left our there. In , we only used pubic and walked everywhere; we were lucky that although today had been planned well in advance, the weather was wonderful.

Two fossil imprints of the shells of Trigonia dug up today near the top of a hill in . These molluscs lived in the Jurassic Period at a time when even the hills in Bath were under water. The rock is (I think) Inferior Oolite.

My friends Hedgy and Hazel feeding their fledglings today (or in one case attempting to feed one of the chicks a bee, but it turned it down). The chicks left the nest 11 days ago, they can now fly quite well and are starting to find their own food, while still getting plenty from the parents. In
